Tony, the guy rebuilt both hoses for $55. Hardly worth the trouble in my book. I took no time from work.

The banjo was a quick filler used at the factory when they put the car together.

I have replaced these lines before too. It's great to have a local rebuild yours. I had to pay $160 at the dealer for mine. I still have the bad ones in the garage that I will rebuild the next time these ones fail.

I hope that you also had the flex lines that connect at the Cats replaced as part of the hose rebuild,

these are the lines that will cause the car to catch fire,
make sure the lines are correctly positioned on the TT if they do not get placed up on the sides of the TT then they will rest on the heat shield and the cats will cook your new lines,
Note( if your MMs are worn this will also let the TT come closer to the heat shield)
also fit a heat shield to the flex portions of the lines, I used the silicone impregnated glass hose covering to protect the lines,
usually available from the same hose rebuilder

Two questions here, on the return line you have the little additional banjo thing with a ball bearing in it. What purpose is the ball bearing? Does it drop down into the bolt center or does it go into item 17 and then you install the bolt?
I am wondering the same thing about the ball bearing. I believe it drops down in the housing as some sort of pressure relief maybe, then the banjo bolt goes through.

the ball is a one way valve it works on gravity fluid will push into the fitting and will not come back out once the ball falls back into the fitting.
As posted earlier this is how the trans is filled at the factory
