Started my timing belt project. Found the teeth shiny on the cam sprockets. And a nice pool of oil next to the motor ID number. Soaked some up, recess was full.
Disconnected the battery, and put the cover back on. I'll be sitting a while, I'm back to work. Retirement wasn't that great, boring actually. Plus the money that's been offered was to good to turn down.
Damn Joe!! You can't take it with you. I thought for sure you'd be down by the river in Blanco or somewhere in the Hill Country. I don't know anything about retirement and I'll probably never be able to retire but I'd get probably get bored, too.

Moved the GTS outside so I can take it in the morning to the Mercedes specialty transmission shop down the street to check pressures and find out what is wrong with this replacement transmission for free.
Moved the 89 to the ramp lift so i can replace leaky transmission line
Moved the Stepson outside now that I know the fuel pump is functional.

Dee had me working harder here at the house, than in the oil patch! I need a break! LOL.
I'm in the process of restoring my El Camino, the Polecat is a money pit, always has been.
Plus we're re-landscaping the property to very low maintenance desert landscaping. Re-stucco, and paint. Replacing the courtyard walkways, and entrance concrete, with Flagstone. Tearing out all the tile in the main house, replacing with hardwood flooring. We're adding a solarium to the back of the main house, a outdoor kitchen, and pergola by the pool. Plus a new spa.
As far as my 928. I got lucky with the tranny I bought from LA Auto Parts. It shifts better than the original, that went south in front of the house, and it don't leak! I need to change all the hoses on the car, and do an intake refresh. Plus I'm adding some performance parts to it. Gonna try to get it repainted before Parade in July, so it's pretty for 3rd coast.
It all takes money, why not let Baker Hughes, pay for it? This way I don't have to touch my stash!

Got it's new ceramic-coated MSDS headers installed...and has flat bedded over to the exhaust shop, where it will get a custom stainless steel exhaust..starting with an h-pipe about 6 inches back from where the pipes split to go to the header collectors, a custom X-pipe in the location reserved for the factory resonator, and a NOS muffler...
This is an early '86 car, so the exhausts both go down the drivers side of the car. I'll be posting pictures of this because I found very little information on aftermarket set ups for our early '86 cars....really looking forward to the finished product...I checked my dates and I ordered the headers from DR back on 7 January....
I'll have pics up in this thread and the thread we have rattling around somewhere showcasing what folks have done with other custom set ups.
Reinstalled my front splash shields after gluing some metal on to strengthen the mounting holes.
And I did some cleaning around the wheel arch while the splash shields were off.
New Timing Belt, water pump, rebuilt tensioner, and oil gear, plus new tensioners and other rollers, main seal and oil pump seal. Waiting on new tensioner bolt from 928sRus to finish up
Failed to undo the front disc screws; impact driver, heat, angle grinder - gonna sneak up on the bolts with a drill tomorrow tee hee
Failed to remove the sticking starter motor - left the extended allen keys at home, miles from the garage.
Managed to remove one of the 2 near side brake calliper bolts. Car is on stands and didn't have enough room to swing the breaker bar, car on stands too close to wall to get in the an give it some...
[*]Found out the couriers aren't going to deliver my brake pipes, said they had tried 3 times this week but I work from home and am sure they didn't ring. Got everything else I ordered in the week. Couriers sent brake pipes and pipe bending tool I was planning to use on the fuel lines this weekend back to the vendor..

UPDATE - reason the calliper bolt wouldn't come off is that I was doing it up rather than undoing it - lesson to self, if you are upside down/back to front working on bolts, check!
