I voted no. Rain X works to an extent, but if you get into a really hard rain and don't have a place to pull over (with shelter) your soaked trying to install them. And it takes a lot longer than 30 seconds out in the rain. So now your finished and need to get back in your Champagne seats soaking wet. Not me!

I bent the wiper arms on my car so they have less of a kink to them. That lets the wipers sit at the very base of the windshield versus being 2-3" up off the bottom when they are parked. I also sanded/resprayed them satin black so they blend in pretty nicely.

If this was a pure show car, eliminating the wipers means there would not be any way to put them back on.
Like Corvette did in 1968.
I'm sure one of our electronic guru's like Hans could come up with a way to make that piece between the hood and windshield raise up to allow the wipers to pop out.

I deleted the wipers on my mk2 jetta.... No big deal really...
It is kinda a pain in the *** when your windshield is dusty, and kinda a pain in the *** trying to get the ice off the windshield in the winter in a hurry.... I live in Colorado and the jetta is my daily with no wipers.
I'm deleting the rear wiper on my 928, and plan to convert the jetta to a mono wiper... a single wiper is more useful in this state for me than none... but if I lived in a drier state I would go totally wiper-less.
No plans for a wiper less 928... but I'll be interested to see what you do! The linkages could just be removed and holes welded up... But I believe your already in process of paint n body..

Whoever said anything about a faceshield ? Faceshields are on helmets. I am talking touring bike windshields here, and no M/C's that I know of has w/wipers for their windshields. I am thinking more along the lines of what Dan is thinking. Remove the w/wipers for the car show, nice days, etc, and attach the small, painted caps-same color as car. How long does that take-30 seconds tops. Not even thinking about removing the motor, etc, just the wiper arm & blade. Also, really do not plan on taking this car out in inclement weather, have a truck for that. It will be somewhat of a Garage Queen-Jarrod you out there ! Even if you were to get a some water on ya, what's the biggie, it's warm water, kinda refreshing, I recommend you try it sometime. T

You can use the wiperarms of a VW Lupo GTI and short them a few cm.So you have a modern look with the modern bosch wiperblades.
I have this mod on my car.
The new arms have more pressure and you can drive way faster in the rain. ;-)

I'm an evangelist for Rain-X and use my wipers rarely, but I wouldn't get rid of them.
Rain-X is way sub-optimal under city lights and <35mph, but I can't think of the last time I used my wipers on a nighttime rural interstate.
Take 'em off for the posing, if you want. Leave 'em on for the driving. If I were a cop and stopped somebody without wipers they'd be _much_ less likely to get any slack.
