Absolutely there's a similarity!
Do you remember Madonna, in the late 80's how she would try to obtain the look of Marilyn Monroe.
You can use that as a comparator.
3 dressed up as 9.- but it is entertaining to play with the styles.

Once again someone claims this is the car that Ferry got for his 75th birthday. Why can't editors do some simple research on what year Ferry Porsche turned 75? It was 1984, and there were no S4 models then...
The picture shown is from the Bensberg Classic in Germany in September. Anders and I missed the car when we were at the museum - it had just been pulled out and was being transferred to the event. Later I saw a studio picture taken at the even, with dirty front bumper louvers. No wonder it didn't win any of the prizes in the concourse...

I love that black wagon.
The pacer, not so much, but that comparison picture used shows a childish rear lift, matching rim/tire and I think a bent bumper. Pacer had its splash and its place in the design/time continuum. Sure got a lot of press back then. Gas prices and poor quality and engine selection issues were factors IIRC

It's not black - it's a dark purple. There was no Amethyst at the time, but the color looks strikingly similar.
Did you guys know that Steve Jobs owned a 928 at some point?

Actually, there is an indirect connection between the 928 and Pacer. At the time both cars were in design, AMC was working with Audi to produce their engine. They ultimately went with the Audi 100LS engine which shares a short block with VW diesels and Porsche 924's. I suspect the AMC folks saw one of the 924 or 928 prototypes and used some of the styling.
Merry Christmas.

Yes, i remember my mechanic telling me how to convert a Pacer engine to be used in a 924. It only takes a few minutes and it was ready to be dropped in the car. Truly this WAS not an exciting moment for me. I was shocked to here Porsche shared an engine with amc. He used his standard slogan for Porsche, OOOOOOOO and two. Enough said.
