Default Doors locked with keys in it.

Parked car earlier in the garage with keys in it. Went to get back in it and it locked itself.

Spare is in the console as I just got home from sears having it aligned.

I have pictures from last key I had made so will have to send for another key to be made. Any easy way in?

Pull rear quarter glass. Easy out w/a couple 1" putty knives.
Easy back in w/four hands.

The only "easy" way in is to order the key and wait...

The three not-so-easy methods that I know of are:

1) the magic "?" tool, I am skeptical of that with later cars because there is a metal shield in there, protecting the lock from such things... Worth a try, however.

2) The removable panels in the floor, behind the seats. This only works if one of the seats isn't all the way back, and if you have extraordinarily long/skinny arms.

3) Remove the pass-side quarter window, as Rog describes in this post. This is the only method that I know for sure works, having seen it done at the recent Third Coast gathering. The trim was removed (which is a bitch to get back in), and part of the seal was cut to get it started.
(Edit: Cutting the seal may not be necessary??)

Good luck, and keep us posted!

A good locksmith can do it with the right tool with the shield in place. A good locksmith can also pry the door with inflatable "baggies" and get to the lock that way. I never thought that would work until I saw it with my own eyes, and no damage to the door.

We do that a lot at the NASA events..ppl lock in keys all the time.

A wedge and two airbags...you can get a frame open about 4" and wont hurt nothin. Lots of spring across 4-5' of door frame from the hinges to the upper edge.

You can pull glass out a couple inches as well, if you have to.

a locksmith trained in the "928" can do it. not many know how, but you need to find one that does. it involves the rear hatch and a top secret method. I dont know how he did it, and either does the other locksmith that showed up first that was trying to spy on the second that did. (that was a funny scene, where i had to chase the first guy away, so the second could do his secret work in peace)

Pulled the plug onthe rear floor. Have socket ready and extenstions. Waitingon my son to get home to help.

First time it has auto locked since I have had it. Any idea why? I had both keys as I was just at sears for alignment. Was going to leave car with them till after they close. Told them to lock keys in it as I had the extra. Found I had a bad inner tie rod. Called Roger to see if I could run by and get one and headed home. Put key in console. Pulled in garage, ran in and realized I left my phone in my the car. Went back out to get it, lifted handle and I heardthe locks cycle and both doors are locked.

Roger and Sean, now you know why I did not return you call or text. Sorry aint got no phone.

No go with a 32 mm 12 pt. acts like its to small and cant get enought bite. Next size up I have is a 36, will run up tomorrow and grab a 34mm.

Anyone tried a socket on the door **** to check the size? Im not a very big guy, cant for the world of me see how someone gets their arm up in there far enough to reach it with channel locks. May have my wife give that a try when she gets home.

If not, locksmith or back glass is coming out.

------Hijack was not intended - I forgot--------

Question: My buddy and I just became 928 owners. His ignition key is the red one - m/y 1985. My ignition key is the longer black one - m/y 1981. Which is correct? Also, can you get a spare made at a Porsche dealer or ?

I'm thinking it is the black longer one.

Thanks,

Mark

.

Biggest socket I had was a 32 as well and as you say, no go, however I just pot a calipers/vernier on it and the outside diameter is coming out at, 34.1mm/1.34inch..
Hope this helps,
Mark.
