Finally time for some updates, albeit small. Progressing on the wiring inside the car and now that the rear area is nearly done, I could test the wiring and bulbs, in this case the brake lights. Apologize for the blurry image.

Also got both door harnesses 95% complete, just the mirror wiring remains (waiting on more wires), and I fabricated some closeout panels for the two forward door openings on each door. Still need to make a closeout panel for the largest rear opening in the door. Made from very thin balsa wood, which is then fiberglassed and covered by VB2 noise dampener on the front, and closed cell foam on the backside for a proper seal.

The HVAC pollen filter modification is also nearly complete and is installed to test fit everything and make sure the wiring routing will not interfere with anything. Will post more pictures of the filter mod once it is complete.

While working on the wiring I found a very neat split braided sleeve from Techflex called F6 Ultra Quiet. It is very soft and pliable and is supposed to silence any harness to body sound caused by vibration. It can be seen test fitted along the center tunnel and on the Master Cell/Power Cell wiring harness. It is fairly thick so it is not suitable for all areas of the car. In the same picture the steering column is loosely in place to verify the cable runs for the Master Cell input wires (ignition switch, wipers etc). The small device on the center console tray is a In-dashMax module that controls indicator lights, alarm LEDs etc and communicates with the rest of the electrical system via the CANBUS.

Cheers!
Carl

That company has changed its name. Same product, but either purchased, or sold, or both (probably).

Remember, it used to be littlefuse.

Techflex is on my bookmarks list when I start wiring. Cool they have the new(ish) product you have tried.

Always imagined if the mastercells were used, then there would be many less wires. Still just looks like so many!

Did I show you the push button switches I bought for the pod buttons? They should fit great even though the pod is covered with a heavy suede.

BC,

Please post some pictures and/or links to the push buttons, very interested to see those. As far as the company (LittleFuse) goes, they changed their name, and the name of the product as the original product name now is shared with a crazy radical group by the same name (ISIS), but the company is still very much in business. Talked to them Friday as a matter of fact.

There is less wiring believe me Just looks really messy right now...like the car burped up some wire spaghetti
I also increased the wire gauge over stock on all wires, so the bundles get almost as thick as stock. Some of the stock wiring size is marginal to begin with, so I didn't think it was a good idea to retain the same marginal sizes.

Cheers!
Carl

Default GTS mirror Wiring

In the process of building the mirror harness, I had to check which wire does what on the GTS mirrors. Mine seem to have different colors than many of the examples posted on Rennlist, but after checking, they correspond to the '94 GTS colors in the WSM. There are also several wires (memory function) that I will not be using. Some quick and dirty pictures of the mirror wires below.

Brown Wires (2) -Mirror Heat
Black & Red - Mirror Up/Down
Blue & White - Left/Right

Cheers!

Carl,
Seriously cool build, the detail and documentation are top notch

I think I've read this and The Fixer's 928 thread twice, each
that must be incredibly satisfying

can hardly wait for the motor and start up !!

Fracture,

Thank you. Same here, itching to get this car on the road

Small update, finished wrapping the firewall harness with the Flextech Ultra Quiet wrap, and installed the driver's side mirror harness. While there I added a rubber grommet to prevent any chafing or vibration where the bundle exits the door panel.

The CANBUS network is now completed (pictures tomorrow) and the system is ready for power-up to test the connections. In the picture (from left to right) is Mastercell, Powercell 3, and InMotion controller to the right. Between Mastercell and Powercell is the fuse block for the Powercell. Fuse block for the InMotion controller is to the right of that unit. Masterful gets its power from the front Powercell via the CANBUS cable. I will post a full diagram with connections as soon as I finish editing it.

Cheers!
Carl
