Sure enough a SS in the December 1st price list.
4 in Ontario, CA and 161 in Germany - straight off Polaris.
At that price I am still moving ahead with an alternative.
Machined from solid is less than half that price.

Dan,
One of the first checks I made but that was also NLA with no stock anywhere.
Wonder what the 944 boys are doing for cam gears?
Probably about to be SS by Porsche and another price hike.

Rog,
you were actually not wondering why I asked you how much you'd have on stock a couple of days ago?! Btw, that's definitely not to last part that will become NLA in near future...
Best
Marc

I've been continually amazed by the availability of parts for old cars from Porsche.
Panels for a 356? No problem!
Indicator switch for a 1989 944? No drama!
Radiator for a 1978 928? None in stock, but we are making some more next month!
The ONE issue that I have concerns over regarding the VW take-over is whether this policy will continue.
I guess we are seeing the answer to that question.

By law, each car manufacturer has to provide parts up to 15 years after end of production. After that, its just a gesture of goodwill whether they'll continue or not. Now more than ever it becomes an economical decision. And there aren't that much 928 left that it makes sense for the company to keep some workers busy only for some minor parts... The prices of some parts are on the way up because of the limited availability.
Of course, that won't be a problem for those parts which you can get as OEM nor for everything you can easily take used from a donor car. However, the prices as well as the number of requests I listen for genuine engine parts are on the way up.
