I have some gears that are just starting to show a little peppering of the surface, they would be good for recoating.

As mentioned earlier, Big Dave and I have both been running re-coated cam gears and oil pump gears for the past 5 and 4 years respectively. Last time I checked mine, they looked perfect. I'll be inspecting again this winter and will take some decent photos to illustrate.

In case people want to know what the coating was... it was PowerKote's DFL-1 (Dry Film Lubricant).

You folks need to vote the bums out and get your rights back, they are not only god given, but are a right under the bill of rights.
Take your land back from them.

We have our rights..the population either votes, makes voices heard..or does nothing at all.

California gets what it wants thru either of those three processes, like any other state.

States with smarter/dumber voters, tune their rights in different ways.

People -can- still own guns in CA, short of being a felon/etc...the standard stuff that you generally dont want someone to be owning a gun anyhow. (whole nother story)

So how long you had a concealed carry permit?
Also, I see nothing in the constitution that says anything about a felon being stripped of his rights to defend him or herself.
It is so easy for law abiding people to get a felony conviction, some times it boils down to not having the money to fight a injustice.
Happened to a good friend of mine, got caught with prescription meds not in the original container, she had a prescription for them, they were just in her purse together, along with her gun.
It was dismissed at the superior court level and the state court refiled it twice, they told her to plead to felony DUI or they would continue to refile it, after twice and almost 20 grand she took them at their word, BTW she had no drugs in her system and a BAC of 0.0.

So should this person have the god given right to defend herself taken away? like so many others?

One could argue that nothing guarantees that people deemed of questionable reasoning, should own a firearm either.

Either way, a government represents all people. I dont disagree with you, but when you have polarizing issues such as this...neither side is going to walk away with an intact victory on the issue.

Its a debate not only best left elsewhere, but one thats entirely well played out over the last number of decades...and will likely sit in the stalemate it's currently in, for the forseeable long term future.

*shrug* But neither does it keep me up at night either.

But, you can in CA. The loophole is determining 'good cause' to need one, and that's up to the issuing authority. The more gun-conservative counties are a lot easier, than the less gun friendly ones are.

I think there are more cam gears out there than people think. I've got enough to last me for quite some time, but I asked Mary (office/parts) if she had been having any issues getting gears and she said no, but she would check. She ordered another gear, just for grins, and it showed up on Tuesday.

Now I've got plenty +1.

Roger...have you absolutely confirmed this...or is this a "gas shortage" thing?

As far as I can tell in Cal its up to the whim of some appointed or sometimes elected county or city sheriff type, with little logic to back up who does or doesn't get a permit. I've seen it swing to the WTF stage in both directions.

Can we get the Gun discussion where it belongs - in OT P&C not here in a subject that is potentially life threatening to our 928s.

Better still take it here

Cam gears are essential, one way or another a source will be found. My guess is the great mass of uninformed owners don't change cam gears anyway, until the timing belt breaks anyway.

Hi Greg,
Well I tried again this morning.
SSF =no stock
IMC = no stock
WP = no stock
MWU manufacturer = NLA 10/10
Porsche - Atlanta, Ontario CA & Noth East = no stock
Porsche - Germany = no stock
Porsche - Dealers - One dealer in NA is showing one in stock.

Seems pretty certain to me.

This does not mean that you will not find the od gear sitting on a shelf in a retail outlet.
Wholesale wise narda.

Of course I do not know what magical place you buy cam gears from 8>)

If we melt the guns and bullets down could they be fashioned into CAM Gears?
