The 928 used to be my hobby, I now go shooting. There is no such thing as a cheap hobby.

The earlier HTD 83 to 86 16v gears are in short supply and look as they are going the same direction as the later cam gears.
Currently Porsche has them as 928 105 545 10.
No SS as yet but they do have another number in both PET and their price list 928 105 545 14. Doubles the price of course.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

Finally received one of the new Porsche 85 to 95 cam gears - 928 105 530 04.
As I suspected they changed the manufacturer to KWG and from my initial observations have changed the material and possibly anodized the complete gear. This is there way of resolving the cam gear wear issues that have plagued us for the last few years.
The old gear weighed 13.5 oz and the new one 15.6 oz.
I will know more when the engineers do some materials testing.

This reminds me of an article I read about countach ownership. An owner needed new valves. He ended up needing to rebuild the motor. It was cheaper to have 48 valves comissioned and made than to buy them from Lambo. Out of titanium.

I worked with a guy that used to rib me about how much i spent flying, I started adding up how much he spent on his Bass tournament fishing, the four wheel drive to pull the Ranger boat, the entry fees, the fuel, which it went through at a astounding rate, and I never got to the actual gear before he said "Enough".
She used to wonder what I spend on flying, until I did the same thing..
Every 300mi a new pair of shoes, the clothing, flights to events, event registrations..
