Default use the proper fuse sizes!

found some melted wiring going to the rear interior light.going to have to remove rear panels to trace back and splice .funny thing is after replacing the fuse the circuit stayed hot with three wires being bare due to melted insulation .had the door ligts on and power to the dome light.once i pulled the fixture out and disturbed the wiring it went out . for those who don't know whether its home wire or automotive wire is rated for amperage it car carry.if a wire can only handle 7.5 amps and you put in a 15 amp fuse the wire will burn before the fuse burns.in a house that usually leads to fire.if you dont have the proper size put in a smaller size until you can get one.never put in a larger size.

Proper is not enough, stay away from cheap Chineese made ones as they are usually much strnger that what they are labeled. Harbor Freight usually carries them. I've worked on an S4 that had two for the fans ans they melted but never blew, they damaged the fuse panel too.

I would not use ANY Chinese fuses...

Not a good place to try to save money.

Are you saying that you don't recommend using LittelFuse products? They are a US based company with manufacturing facilities both in the US and China. I always regarded them as the standard.

If not them, then who?

I've also searched for who provides a quality fuse and have not found a solid answer.

Fuses are highly over rated. just use bigger wires!
So,why did the fan use more current?? why did the lights use more current? unless there is a short, the fuse is really not needed. I think much of the wiring of the 928 is under spec'ed.

There are only 2 good brands I use: LittelFuse & Bussman both make high quality ATO/ATC fuses.
