Default WYIT jobs during odo gear R&R?

I am finally getting ready to replace my odometer gear that gave up the ghost a few months back. What do I need to do while I am in there?

All of my lights appear to be working well, but if it is best to replace some bulbs while I am in there I figured I would. Should I replace them all? If so, are they fairly cheap, and can I just get them from Radio Shack or Auto Zone, or do I need to give Roger at 928sRus a call??

Anything else that needs to be done while I have the pod apart??

pan gasket, motor mounts, suspension, ball joints/tie rods, fuel lines. While you are in there...

Agreed.

Bulbs or LEDs. The bulbs are not off-the-shelf at your typical store. Also be aware that you can get just bulbs or bulbs in holders.

You could also tweak the voltmeter pot to get a good voltage reading.

I fix the cracks in the pod, tweek the voltmeter, put in LED, add carbon fiber face. The speedo is off by 7 mph. I hate to go back in there again.

How do you tweak the voltmeter?? I don't know if mine is off or not...it seems fairly accurate, but... I know that my speedo is pretty good. It is off by about 1 mph from my GPS. My pod is crack free so I guess it is just the bulbs and maybe a little volt tweaking.

Is you gas gauge accurate? Mine is off by a qtr tank, and I always assumed it was the sender, but tested the sender last weekend, and it looks like I will be pulling the pod again to adjust the gauge.

You'll find a little adjustment potentiometer on the volt meter. Connect up the instrument cluster without any pod and then adjust the meter to match the reading from a good voltmeter. Start the car to check to calibrate it at that point. This would be most effective after cleaning the grounds.

So what is the recommendation for bulbs (types and wattage) and the best source if the are not readily available locally?

I'm very happy with the background lighting LED's I got from Nicole. I changed all the bulbs and did the painful soldering in of X-mission bulbs. Now that my odo failed, I get to go back in again but it gets easier each time.
