I saw the lighted sills on my friends 2010 Mustang and thought if a Ford can have them, why not a Porsche? I have been considering this mod for some time, the clear sill numbers are just begging for some light!
A few years ago I messed around with various electronic circuits and built one that would fade or "pulse" an LED on and off. That would be a neat feature for the sills.

Thanks Andrew, I will take you up on that.
I am correcting this post, because Hans just made me realize that since we are lighting from both ends, we can actually poke a hole in the middle of the light panel.
So, all the kits will be supplied with the hole in the proper place and the locating pin no longer as to be cut off.

There are a few options. The easiest is the hatch switch, but like I explained above, it has a downside.
You can also tap directly into the CE panel for the power and still use the the hatch switch for the ground. That way the sill lights up when the door opens but remains lit even when the hatch lock motor cycles.
You can also tap into the door light wiring, by going through the door cable pass through.
There are other places under the center console as well.
We are looking at the best/easiest options and will include directions for the best options.

One curious thing to note: I have a brand new sill, in the bag, and it doesn't have the hole for that rivet at the back. I guess the factory figured that it was not really necessary.

Are the different color LEDs cheaply and readily available if someone decided they wanted to change colors sometime in the future?
