Rick,

Congrats! I for one was pushing for you to get a 16V... But if your Pops thinks you're ready, then so be it! I was 17 when your S4 was built, and it was the ultimate object of my desire. Be careful with it! You'll look much cooler owning the car for a long time with no incident rather than showing off it's power and letting it get the best of you. Remember, nothing kills cool like a wrecked car. You're a lucky guy, and you should go help your dad with whatever he is doing for the next 10 years of so to pay him back. Congrats again!

Best Regards,

Mike

Welcome.
My first car is the one I have now. Didn't want of a crap civic or something like that.
Those cars has a lot of personnality. Treat her well, and she will stay with you for a long time. Act like a retard, and you will see.

Congratulations RP2! What a great opportunity to have possession of such a highly engineered performance car. Get involved with Drivers Education (DE) days at the local track and use that time to get the go fast thrills under a controlled situation. That way there is less temptation to push the limits as much on the street.

Good luck and always practice defensive driving on the street.

P.S. - I did not own a car until I was 20 years old. I did however own all six keys for 1965-1967 VW Bugs. Meaning I had plenty to borrow back in the day when they were everywhere.

Congratulations! You're a lucky guy. When I was 15, my dad had two 85.5 944s that he had picked up. I was hoping that one of them would end up being mine (even if it was the brown one). Instead, I ended up with an '83 Buick Regal. It was a good car, but it wouldn't have won a drag race with a school bus Enjoy the 928.

I still recall the words from Ferry Porsche as I got my 911E in your ages (even before I got my driving license): 'You're now owning a superb sports car - so bear in mind that you have to be an example for other drivers'.

Since I grew up only with 911 & 928, I can confirm that for me it worked: If you own a Porsche, you're actually taking care of it - probably much more than on each other cars.

I trust on these eternal rules - at least for enthusiasts.

Happy riding & good luck!

Marc

Beats my $150 '59 Volvo PV544 by a bit. I guess that's inflation for you.

Thumbs up

When I was 16 in 1980, a new Honda Civic was $4k and the 928 was close to $35k. I could not afford either one.
Enjoy the 928.

I didnt get to own a 928 until I got older. But I drove by Motherinlaws 87 s4 and fell in love with it at 16.

I don't agree with a young person having one, but your dad is smart on one thing....they are one of the safest cars in the world.

Good luck all the best!

Congratulations, on the car take great care of it I had a S4 when I was 16 which I should of been more careful with it (no, I wasn't doing burnouts or putting the public in general) I was very negligent with the maintenance and it came back to nearly kill me. Still my favorite car I have ever owned I sold my Boxster S to get it I hope one day I will be in a position to purchase a 928 again Enjoy and welcome make sure to upload some pictures.
