When will you be at Greg's or Mark's next? I can digitize them, and create a 3D model and tollerance drawings very quickly.

 

Another +1, you don't need it. I had no problems removing/installing the cams in a 968 without it.

I used it on my engine, but didn't on the '87 I sold. You're right. You don't need it. But if you have a close replica in plywood, it helps to make things idiot-proof. So why not use it.

 

This is 3MB scan of a copies made from original factory tool. Printing it in correct scale shown in cm's and cuting extra paper off is more than accurate enough.

Rob its fine as-is.

Being a scan, the front face of the tool is to scale, so the pic is easily cleaned up as there's no distortion of that front face due to perspective.

if you're doing cam work all you Really need is porken's tool and the home made hold down tools!! But I do agree if you can make a copy of these it's pretty cool!!

 

Mike, If you do that and e-mail me a DXF,or IGES 2-d file,I would gladly laser cut a bunch of these for the greater good of the community. Ed

 

Thanks for all the help with this. It is a feel good thingee for me, an extra check that things are all right for a bumbler who needs it! I was thinking of making ABS parts off a rapid prototype machine at work, but laser cut from AL would be a lot tougher.

WE (you?) should be able to figure out exact dims from knowing the distance between the cams and the angular orientation from the firing order. I didn't even think of that until a few days ago.
