Default Orange County Guys - Who knows this car?

http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/1991438459.html

Looks basically the same as the car that I have been considering in Washington state, but says that it has been maintained by a Porsche Mechanic, etc. Slightly more mileage and slightly less expensive. I'm figuring that shipping will be similarly expensive for either.

It does worry me that it says it's sold "as-is".

I am very close to selling my current car, so I'm also very close to pulling the trigger on a 928. I will need someone to look at this car as well if anyone is close by and has some free time.

I know there are some very handy 928 helpers out there in California (Dr. Bob and Bill Ball come to mind).

how many used cars are not sold as is?
Do your homework and you ought to get a good car,
looking for a deal or paying less up front will usually result in a car that needs more attention, if your handy with a tool box it shouldnt matter too much

Awesome.

I was referencing him more as part of the group of 928 Rennlisters who I know are in California that know these cars exceptionally well. The California guys as a whole seem to be very good with lending a hand.

Completely agree with you. It just seems like most of the cars that I have seen that include that phrase in the ad seem to be more "project" than complete cars.

Jon-

Believe me, I'd like nothing more than to go kick some tires right now, but Redondo is nearly an hour from me and I just can't get out of this darned office this week. Unfortunately Redondo more or less splits the diff between the OC people and the SF Valley people.

Rob,

I understand where you are coming from. I should probably check the zip and area for better clarification next time. It was listed under the OC area, so I just assumed.

If anyone else is within reasonable distance and is able to look at some point I would really appreciate anything anyone can do.

Thanks guys.

What exactly are you looking for in your purchase? i.e.( 5 speed, color, year), or just price point. The reason I ask these questions is because I have a 85' 928 auto, that I will be listing to sell within the next few days. the car is in my avatar. I can give you more specifics if interested. Thanks Mike

There is a good sized core group in that area, unfortunately I don't think they hang out either here on Rennlist or on Pelican, kind of a rogue bunch.

It might be interesting to know which "Porsche" mechanic they used, main one in that area I think is no longer in business.

I'm looking for a 5-speed 32v car. Color combo doesn't really matter, but I would prefer something outside the norm. Of course, LSD and sport seats would be ideal. But mainly a well maintained car that isn't a garage queen and that was decently maintained. The car will be my daily driver.

I'd prefer not to spend more than about $7k for the purchase.
