I'm still not a lover of those seats, look a bit too much low end Jap tuner car to me, but it's your butt that's in it so as long as your comfortable that's the main thing. I do however really like listening to music when I'm driving and I bet that system sounds great, the stock one is pretty superficial to be honest and very limited.
I'm not sure I'd go to the lengths you have, although obviously it wouldn't sound as good as your set up, but I really need to improve on the stock speaker/amp set up.
Seeing the Titleist cap with no rear seats and those boxes how do you get on for getting your golf clubs in? If the weathers good I can tip the rear seats forward and chuck my elctric trolley and full size bag in the back of mine to get to the course. I also load mine up with radio controlled helicopters on Sundays but I'd really need the extra flat load area so if I did lose the rear seats I'd have to manage without the storage boxes.

Shopped around the web and found the 3 way Focals for $ 450. They do sound fabulous along with the 10" Sub and yes, guilty again of going a little over budget. I keep the stix at the home golf club most of the time mounted on a electric trolley, and do like walking when playing the home track. Will be throwing the new Mizuno MP-53's in the back of the GTS this Friday for our maiden voyage. It's the 10th annual 3rd Coast Shark Gathering Nov 5-7. Looking forward to meeting all who attend and seeing some other great Sharks. Golf clubs fit in there behind the new rear seat delete cabinet just fine. Always rent a golf cart when playing away from home, so no need for dragging the electric trolley along, and never planned on having room for it. Most of the time, the better courses here in the states unfortunately require you to rent an electric golf cart. Thats a full length driver in the trunk. Also planned on room for two weekender bags for my wife and I, and they fit great. We measured and dry fitted everything before we started the build. There is also ample room in the 2 caves in the new RSDC that we store car cleaning supplies, towels, wifes purse, etc. We also made the cabinet the same height as the cargo cover (also being fabricated by Paul Champagne) providing even more room. The cargo cover will be drawn closed most of the time, so why not take advantage of the extra space in the caves at said height. I always wanted to try those radio controlled helicopters and planes, but just never got there. Looks like fun. T

A simple question... Why put speakers in the lower doors... don't you still have the 3 speakers in each rear quarter panel?

IIRC, the GTS's have a 10 speaker set-up... so you now have 12 (+ subwoofer)?

I've always been somewhat of an audiophile when selecting systems for my cars... even when in high school.

I listen to most types from Classical to Thrash Metal (exceptions being Rap & most Country) and have been pleased with most Alpine offerings to span that range of genres.

Currently I have a 10+1 system (interior out of a '91) that consists of:

CD head unit
6.5" type R's in B-pillar
5.25" type S's in quarter window with
4" type S's as component pair including crossovers
12" type R subwoofer in ported enclosure
5.25" shallow in doors with
3.5" as component pair including crossovers (doors are AudioBahn -appropriate brand given the 928's heritage, no?)
400Wx1 @ 4 ohm amplifier for sub
70Wx4 @ 4 ohm amplifier for front/rear component pairs
50Wx2 @ 4 ohm amplifier for full range B-pillar pair

When I upgrade the CD deck or go to a double-din unit... I will be getting Alpine's IMPRINT module to fine-tune the system as well.

Sketched out a RSDC plan a few weeks ago that might help you & others if considering doing a similar build. I used aluminum bar stock available at Lowes. Then pre-drilled and countersunk holes toward the bottom 1/3rd of the 2" wide aluminum trim piece. On top of that went a little blob of dum dum (strip caulk) about every 6". Then just pressed the 1" trim over the bottom half of that 2" piece for a nice clean look. Topped it off with the P letters for a finished look. T

Well you seem to be having quite a bit of fun with this project. I agree it is your car and you should do what you enjoy with it. I did learn from many other cars in the past that eventually I do sell even if it takes 19 years or so. So I try to make it easy enough to revert back somewhat close to stock with any mods I do. Just makes for an easier sale but that is up to you.

A couple of questions and concerns.

I like you had both an 80 euro and now a GTS. At this time in my life I prefer the GTS. One of the benefits is the comfort of the ride over the 80. I love the Fikse wheels. I have 2 sets I use for track wheels but I find them too thin for street use especially on a car as heavy as a GTS. I have also tried 18"s on my GTS and i found no handling benefit and IMO destroyed the ride comfort. (although they look better) I believe Fikse offered a thicker barrel option. If the wheels haven't been made already you might consider that it shouldn't add too much weight and still be far lighter than Cup II's. It will save you the angst of constantly repairing the wheels.

I would be concerned that the illumination on the kicker amps will reflect off the back glass while driving in the evening. Is there a way to turn off the illumination a night for easier night driving?

I also agree with the others on the Seats. They are poor quality compared to many not comfortable and IMO don't do the car or all your hard work justice. Since this is a street car and you are looking for comfort, support and possibly some access to the back you might consider the Recaro Sportster CS's. I have found for some reason the 928 Seats to be some of the most comfortable used by Porsche. The CS's blow them away. The dense cushioning softens the ride by absorbing all the surface roughness transmitted through the seat. The back shell is flexible so it cradles you and makes for great long distance comfort. They also have great support all around. Mounting these on sparco sliders should get them low enough to prevent your hair from rubbing which is one of the problems I have in my Sunroof GTS.

I like the look... but once you install Paul's cargo cover -it won't be seen, right? If not, that's something to consider (although temporarily while waiting for the cover will work).

As an aside and a safety concern... knowing what may be on the other side of the metal in these cars -how did you secure your RSDC so that it doesn't become a missle in the event of a crash?
