OK, take a look on this page:

http://www.lambocars.com/cou/lp500qvs.htm

where it states the top speed of the Countach QV is 182 mph. Why did the Motortrend test only see 160?

Like I tried to explain before I remember it being advertised as the fastest top speed automatic car back in 1987.

because that is all it could do (with a wing) off the shelf in the hands of impartial, experienced testers. Find the test with 182.

A better question is - if the S4 set the record of 171.9mph what was/should be the top speed of the GTS with 30 bhp and 52 lb/ft of tourque more?

Noted the earlier ref to VR4...had one, "slightly enhanced." I was surprised by the lack of lag with the OEM sized turbos. The AWD is a nice feature, many of the flashy extras -- the gizmotics-- on the 2nd gen would fail (switchable exhaust, active aerodynamics front and rear) but were fun to tinker with. Not a great interior and a miserable experience to work on...but still a great platform to tweak for those with an interest:
