Hmmm I bet that makes you a master.
Maybe someday I will need to buy a part or 2 off of you.

Hey I know, we could do a group buy and get cannons made for our 928 and go shoot a few fords he he

That's funny, I still have a 50 caliber machine gun barrell that I have always fantasized about building up into a sort of cannon that I could mount in my Porsche at just the right location and angle so that when someone pissed me off I could form up behind them and put a bullet in their differential, then wave as I drove around them and away into oblivion. Jerry,

That is looking great!! I am REALLY thankful that you are helping me out with this because, like was already pointed out, this is the only way that it would happen, which makes it even more fantastic!!

I am sure that I owe you many drinks of whatever you are drinking whenever we meet up

This is just another fine example of the people on this forum making it great, because I never expected anyone that I had never met before to go to so much trouble to help me out!!

Hi Paul. Thanks for your warm words of encouragement. In my profession this kind of work is referred to as "pro bono." That is short for "pro bono publico" which means for the good of the public. Here we can perhaps call this pro bono also and have that stand for something like " pro bono foramico" and say for the good of the forum. There we do it because some people cannot afford to pay for it. Here we do it because we can and perhaps many others cannot.

Aside from the joy and challenge of creating this devise for you, what you have to say is more than adequate pay back. Nevertheless, I will be glad to share a drink on you at any time we are able to meet.

I am just as anxious as you are to see the end result, although I do have a picture of it in my mind that I cannot share with you. Perhaps soon I'll be able to post a picture of the completed hub.

Well here it is!!!!! It took much less time today to finish this hub than I thought it would. All I have left to do is paint it and ship it. Here are a few pictures of it in the white.

I put the lightening holes in it for a few reasons. One was to lighten it, DUH. One was to provide a possiblilty of some cruchability similar to the Porsche wheel. And one was to give it some personality; and I did that with the holes, kind of carrying over the theme set by the holes in the Formulaing wheel.

I am going to paint it wrinkle Black.

Jerry, that is simply outstanding. Wish I had a cool steering wheel I needed to adapt to my car!

Been following this thread as a hsm as well as 928'er - that's a really fine job, Jerry, in absolutely every respect.

Jerry,

I LOVE IT!!

It looks great now, but will look even better with the black on. You have made a steering wheel adapter that looks like it belongs in an art exhibit! Of course, I've always thought that 928's belong in an art exhibit anyway. I also really like the lightening holes!! They make the hub look like it was made for it (which, of course, it was)!!

Maybe someday I will be able to do some "pro bono foramico" work, but for now, I just want to say a big thanks to you again for all your hard work!! I remain absolutely amazed at your generosity!!

Hi Paul. I measured this wheel in comparison to the factory wheel without the factory extension, and it will be about a quarter of an inch closer to you that the original factory wheel WITHOUT the factory extension. Given that your Formuling wheel is slightly smaller in diameter than the factory wheel, I suspect that is going to be just about ideal, from a functionl point of view. Now I an anxious to see what this looks like painted. I think it is going to be "SOPHISTICATED," but in a racey sort of way.

Here is what it looks like painted. It is much more subtle than I kind of expected, which is good, because it will accent your nice steering wheel rather that the other way around. My paint job isn't great, and I may touch it up or do some of it over, but I will be able to ship it in the next couple of days.

Paint job looks great to me!! It just shows how dirty my wheel was from hanging around in the garage.

I can already here the compliments coming when I get it installed! I think it's going to really look nice inside the car. I will have to take lots of pics of it installed to let you see how it looks!

Be sure to let me know what shipping runs and I will send you the money via whatever method works best for you. (Make sure you include what you have spent on materials also!)

Finally! I am really pleased with the third attempt to paint this new hub with wrinkle black. The first two efforts ended with runs and less than complete wrinkling. The last run came when the rattle can stopped spraying and started squirting. I went and bought another can of the same, but at a different store and the first try went really well. I also decided to follow the instructions, so some of the problem might have been me.

Here is a picture. I'll let it cure and may put it in the oven for an hour as my friend Walt suggested and then ship it tomorrow or tuesday.
