Well, search does not work on my iPad for some reason so I will just start a new thread.
Just ordered a set of these tires for the 92. The Kuhmo XS's didn't last for anything but they had a tread we are rating of 180, so they are a good wet weather racing tire maybe but won't last in the dry. These have a rating of 340 so they ought to last quite well!
I'll keep you all posted. I have Sumitomo HTR ZIII's on my 94 so we will compare those two over the miles. The HTR's have a wear rating of 300 so should not last quite as long.

My largest complaint about anything Conti's is when they get past 1/2 way on the wear, they are loud as hell.

I got them from Discount Tire with a price match to Tire Rack. I got 235/45-17 and 275/40-17 and they were $129 for the fronts and $141 for the rears. Not sure that is a promo price but it is good pricing for sure. The Sumitomo's were about $100 less for the set but I am hoping the 340 wear rating will more than pay for that difference.

Yep you are right, the promo dates: April 1 to June 25, 2010. I purchased a set of 4 255/35-19 XL for under $950. Compared to other Conti tires in this size with a UTQG 280 are $400 more per set. Let's not even start mentioning Michelin or Pirelli. You'll notice you're driving faster than everyone else when it's pouring out. Enjoy 'em!

I have the DWS model in a 235/40/18 size on another car and they are amazing all weather ultra high performance rated tires. They can handle my spirited driving well, have worn evenly, not too loud, and were a great price. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

My Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus had a tread wear of 600 or better and didn't last over 11,000 on my 90S4 on the rear. Perfect alignment, wore completely evenly across the tread. Both rear tires worn down the same. Tire Rack wouldn't do anything on the warranty. Told me to take them to the local dealer. Local dealer had me call Michelin. Michelin won't warranty them because the fronts and rears didn't wear at the same rate. Bullcrap warranty. I don't spin my tires either. Drive the car like an old lady. Put Fuzion ZRi's on . See how those last.

As much as we love to 'compare' the UTQG treadwear ratings, remember that they are arbitrary at best. They represent a manufacturer's best markinging guess about how their new super-whamadyne compound will last -compared to an arbitrary standard tire- as the 100 basis. No real good reason to believe that a Michelin 300-rated time will last the same as a Conti 300-rated tire in the same service.
My tire life doubled when I started doing my own aligment work. It went up another 25% when the forest service closed Angeles Crest Highway a year ago. Connection?

Lol Bob! I live on the other side of a nice road like the one you mentioned, and I never get more than 5000 miles out of ANY rear tire......for me, its 2:1 rear-to-front wear on the street. About even on the track.
I guess that means I'm on the brakes a lot in the track, and the gas a lot on the street? And NO tire likes me...
FWIW, Porsche-spec "NO" graded tires were the worst of any I've tried. So far, Firestone Wide Ovals have been best for wear/traction...

Absolutely agree 100% with Traxstar 944. I put these DWS's on my 86.5 and I love them!! They are much quieter, handle better and seem to stick just as well as the Dunlop's that they replaced. I am also sure that they will wear better than the Dunlops. I would buy them again in a heartbeat!

Have the Conti's on my 83....they have been great tires...though now that I'm getting close to the wear bars though still many mile before they are flush...they can be heard a little more...but still grip like crazy. I just mounted up about a month ago the Dunlop Direzza Dz101 ...other than the higher pressure in the tires than contis ...I love there grip and traction over my Hankook Radial K106 Which were nice but wore out too quickly for my tastes and I do not light the tires up at all...

i had the DWS on my M3...... pretty much the only 19" tires with a 50k warranty....
Compared to the Michelin PS2's I had before the DWS was worlds better in the rain, quieter with a better ride and better than expected in the turns....I would even say BETTER under acceleration than the PS2's.....using launch mode in the M3 was tricky at best with the PS2's....often too much burnout...but with the DWS it would just hook and go...1.2g off the line and your GONE... I never had a chance to drive them on track...but in the few spirited sessions I did drive...they had lower peak grip, but with good feel and were very controllable...
