Low miles has to come with extensive documentation for me to be a believer.
Price of the 86.5 is way up there. It would have to show complete maintenance to current day on things like MM's, WP/TB and all rollers/brgs, etc. Doubt it would, but you could check.
86.5 looks hit from behind.

The S3 is '86.0, WP0JB0920GS860076, nothing special in the options. Pretty color combo!
139 319 340 418 490 494 533 570 593 650
The rear bumper shocks are blown, as Landseer noted.
'88, WP0JB0922JS860510, 139 340 418 494 533 650

Both are dealer cars. They look nice. I'm betting there is no history on either. For this kind of money, caveat emptor. Well, always caveat; I mean the low mileage helps, but this is top dollar and then you have no doc on the TB or the flex plate on the AT.

I'll get this before Brett does ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
S3 usually refers to the early 32V engine found in US 85/86, and Australia and Switzerland in '86.
S2 was the official designation of the 16V LH-2.2 engine from 84-86 in some countries. It was possible to buy a 928S2 in some parts of the world - the 310hp 4.7 16V with EFI made in 84-86 (most of the world still got the 16V engine in '86).

I'm going to be in Raleigh next weekend, so if you would like, I would be more than happy to look at the '86.5. It's at Motorcar Investments...I'm quite familiar with that dealer.

Make sure that the odometer works, and see if there are any records as to if it was changed, and the dates that it went out.
Customer bought a nice 32k '85 a few weeks ago, on his trip here, the odo finally went out, and he promptly had it changed. There are low mile ones, the odo gear either has gone out, or will go out.

thanks for the responses
I can see the rear of the '86 is deformed
the 24k miles seems suspect...but who knows...
the 1988 carfax shows a discrepency in the odometer readings... http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...3|-106|-107|-8
started out as a Canadian car...does that matter? would the speedo have been changed?
this is going to take some time
I want a car I can drive, not really work on (although minor stuff to improve it is fine, no engines or trannies though., lol), so I'm prepared to pay a bit more...

Rixter used to work at European Performance, they are the garage part of Motorcar Investments (although a separate business). PM him and he can get you good details on that '86. Price seems high though.
I like the '88 between the 2 cars.
