Front License Plate or Not? NJ Requirement
In New Jersey you are required to have a front license plate. However, I see many Corvettes and Ferraris and Porsches without them.
The problem is that it's a ticket everytime you get caught.
I like the look so much better without the front plate, but everytime I see a cop I worry that I'm going to get stopped.
Maybe it's worth the ticket to keep the look.
You guy's in states that require front plates, what do you think?
It will be interesting to see how many Jersey guys have plates in the upcoming Sharks at the Beach.

Iowa requires a front license plate and I don't mount it. Never had a problem. Of course, no one lives here.

steve-same in n.y. and here on long island the PO-lice like to stop cars and check EVERYBODYS inspection and registration stickers on the highway off-ramps (scabs!) just to raise revenue for the state! the last time I passed on I tucked the front of the shark right up against the guy ahead of me rear end, and luckily enough got away with it. But we are always aware of not complying with the state regs. would I rather have the fine, NO (our respective states bleed us for enough, thank you very much) but upon purchasing the car i asked the PO about the front plate and he responded as though i had blasphemed! the frame for it was under the front mat, but " DO NOT hang a front plate on this car" was his reply! We're renegades in this reguard. Its just us thumbing our nose at authority.

In MA you need front plates to pass inspection. If the plates are removed Police are very cool about it and won't single you out for it. I find most of the police around here are also car nuts.

Make a cool velcro plate and spray the velcro to the color of the car before you put it on

You could get a folding plate and display it when you drive but hid it when you are posing...

Or get one of the automated types-but that will add weight and weird aerodynamics to the front...

After having to feed the system here in Cali, I made a no-holes mount for the front plate. A couple screws an it slides out for a better look. Plate sits snug against the lower face of the nose when installed.
Big deal here is red-light cams. They need a good look at the front plate to know where to send the bill I guess. So it's getting tougher to escape without the plate. Revenue is king after all.

No front plate for me here in WA, but I'm considering getting one of these vinyl decals one of these days.

Illinois requires a front plate. The way I figure it is, if I am stopped for speeding or whatever, I have a much better chance of getting away with only a warning if I am not violating any other laws like the plate law. So, even though it looks like crap, I have my front plate mounted. I do wish that Illinois would revisit the law.

Run no front plate, if you get pulled over have it under the passengers seat and just throw it behind the windshield and tell them it fell off... Its worked for me for the last 5 years

My GTS has a replacement front bumper cover that never got drilled for the license plate bracket, I'm hoping to keep it that way. I'm digging the vinyl decal option, tho.

Funny, here in CA a front plate is required, but I haven't had one on my primary cars in at least 20 years. I've had my fair share of moving violations and not a single officer mentioned or noted the missing plate. I got a ticket for it specifically one time - from a meter maid in Bezerkeley. I had plenty of time on the meter, so I chased her down when I saw the ticket on my windshield - she told me to read the ticket, and there it was - no front plate. $25 fine paid to Bezerkeley. I still don't have a front plate. I just don't park my car in metered spaces in Bezerkeley anymore.

Major inititative in VA to ensure front plates and that neither front nor back have any obstructions. Plates have embedded UPC's or analgous technology to be read remotely.

With the Papilio product, you can photograph your plate, Photoshop it to plate size, print it in high-quality, spray the sheet with a UV protector clear coat and then apply it to the bumper.
Papilio makes the paper in waterproof with removable or permanent adhesive for about $12 for ten sheets. If you get the removable, you have ten plates for $25 with shipping and the spray.
