Are you serious?.. Wow...that's a bummer... I don't think anyone posted that info here... Sad news as he was the first web presence I found for 928's way back...
How about Dave Shaeffer? I don't know if he was ever on the forums, but I think he was on the mail list. Last contact I had with him, I think, was back in 2002.
Is it true about Phil Tong????????? Somebody please confirm.....
Are we sure we're (and by 'we' I mean 'Andy') not mistakenly referring to the memoriam to Phil Tong Sr. on the homepage of http://www.928s4vr.com/ ? Sure hope so....
Hello everyone! Right now I'm finishing up my very first Torque Tube Bearing replacement on California. Re-installing the xmission/tube and rear suspension this weekend. Still alive and wrenching!
Dwayne
Would love to see one of your excellent write ups for torque tube bearing service. Thanks for all the other write ups too...not sure if I could have done all my own work without them.
I saw Dan Bise at the last Motor 4 Toyz (2009) in Woodland Hills. His 928 took a dump, and he had to let it go a couple of years ago. If I am not mistaken, he is now driving an Audi, not sure which model. Dan is a great guy and fun to be around
What about Phil Tong... anyone still keep in touch with him?
I heard from Phil last about 2-3 years ago. He used to live nearby in San Francisco, but moved to Hawaii about 5-6 years ago.
Also, sorry to hear Dan Bise appears to have left the 928 fold. He used to drive all the way from LA to go on some of our Norcal funrides, and he and Keith Widom did an incredible job on the early Sharktoberfests.
