Default Rim weights

I was looking to upgrade the manhole covers on the 1988 928 and was concerned with weight. I was possibly looking to upgrade to 18", maybe 19" rim, but wanted to go oem (turbo twist, carrera classic). I then found this site.

http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php

I don't think there is much weight advantage on switching rims, except for the cool/bling factor. Anyone agree/disagree.

I weighed my wheels from CCW and they were 19.2 lbs/8.7 kg front and 20.6 lb/9.36 kg rear. That compares to any Porsche wheel, especially 18" and wide widths.
Forged one piece 9.5x18 et68 front and 10x18 et52 rear. Were $2600 a set, but custom made, strong, light. "C-10"
Look up CCW wheels in FL.

Do a rennlist search also...

Do you mean OEM as in factory wheels? If so they are OE, not OEM.

I can tell you that when I got the 18" 997 wheels for my 87 they weighed more than the 16's.

Ispeed, nice rims.

OEM Original Equipment Manufacturer. OE Original equipment. Isn't that the same thing?

If you haven't upgraded to GTS front brakes just find 4 9" club sport wheels and run them all around with 245/45/16 tires. 16" tire selection is weak, but they are cheap compared to $250 a tire for 18's...

The club sports are a great looking 928 wheel and are "vintage" stuff.

No, not most times.
If a manufacture has built anything that went on a new car, lets say a shock for a 928 then they are the OE for that shock, but they can then go make a very substandard part for say a 928 timing chain and claim that they are a OEM manufacture, which they are, but they are not the OE of that part.

They could also make a much better chain and claim to to a OEM, which they are, but the only way to be assured with out actually knowing the quality of them is to get OE parts.

are you guys friggenheat crazy????? are you racing some professioal series where you need to shave .0001 seconds off your lap time???

a 5 lb delta, is not a big deal at all, so dont even give it a second thought. you want strength, trueness, and looks and thats what matter with wheels. NOT weight. 1 lbs rolling on the rim is like 1.4lbs as if it was sitting in the car. 5 extra lbs per rim is like an extra 30lbs sitting in the car.
