DOH I just noticed this car is an 86.5 ,
the rotors should be the same sorry, my mistake.
I have an early 86 and the rotors are smaller ( S3 versions) than the S4s
Thanks for the exhaust update,
About the paint when you say the clear is cracking what does this mean??
Are these scratches or do you think it is from extended periods of sitting the sun, where the sun would have crazed the paint.
Has the car been repainted??

The situation with the paint is hard to describe. From 5-10 feet away, the paint looks fine. However, when you look closely, you can see a random spiderweb of fine scratches that cover much of the car (I haven't really checked to see if it's all the panels). The scratches aren't actual cracks, and I don't think that they are through the clear coat. I test buffed a small portion of the hood, and I think that they can be buffed out, but I'm not sure yet. I'll see if I can capture this with the camera tomorrow after I wash the car.

I haven't seen any obvious signs of the car having been painted. At some point, I'll go over it and check for tapelines and maybe hidden overspray.

Mrmerlin,
So, I attempted to take pictures of the exhaust to answer your question, but unfortunately I failed miserably. The car is on jack stands. My camera is an older model and I know nothing about photography, so I rely on the automatic settings. I couldn't get a focused picture that actually showed the condition of the exhaust.
However, now that I've closely looked it over, the exhaust is obviously not brand new. It looks like any exhaust that is not stainless and has been on a car for more than 10K miles. I've dealt with plenty of rusted through exhausts over the years, and this one looks solid. I cannot look into the cats, but aside from the possibility of cat internal failures, there is no reason for the next owner to worry about the exhaust; it looks solid.

Call Roger and see what he comes up with, good prices on new parts as well.

BTW how does the exhaust look ??
Is it all rusted out like the rest of the accessory parts under the car

Well, it looks like I have an interested local buyer. He's coming over tomorrow to check out the car. The deal would be $3000 with the newly painted bumper. It's far from a done deal, so this is just a heads up in case anyone from the list is seriously interested.

Well, it looks like the car is sold. After all the discussion about saving it (and all my work putting pieces back together), it's going to become a donor car. However, it will become a donor to some good causes. I'm keeping the seats to send to Paul C. as cores. Mark "Sharks" is going to buy the car for the engine to replace the one he blew up last week. I think he has potential plans for the remainder of the car, but I'll leave that to him to discuss. Thanks everyone for your encouragement and feedback. While I would have liked for the car to end up with someone who wanted to restore it, I'm excited that it's going to a list member (or more than one). I'm looking forward to following where the pieces end up.

If you saw my thread last week "Fun day at the track until I blew my engine @^$*&!", I am in need of either a 5.0L short block with numerous other parts, an entire engine, or a car with an engine close to mine to exchange parts with.

This car will not only keep my car alive, but numerous others, and if I can talk AO into it (shouldn't take too much arm twisting), we may make it into a dedicated track car with a non-interference engine, maybe a supercharger, ...

This would keep my car off the track; we will have interior parts for a number of other 928 owners, and a dedicated track car that we could share for DE's, Autocrosses and other track type events.

Looks like I will be pulling two engines next month. Good thing I will be picking up a cherry picker and a engine stand tomorrow.

That's too bad...
This is a really nice car.
Hey, what's done is done... not really my place anyway.

FWIW, hey Mark... I know "928 Parts East" had some 32V engines.

Yeah, I know, I let you down. But in my defense, I feel like I made a pretty honest attempt to sell the car to someone looking for a driver or restoration project.

Now I'll be able to move the '90 project in to the garage and start all over again...

Well, the car is on it's way back to Michigan with Mark. He arrived last night. After going over the car and loading it on the trailer, we went out for dinner and talked 928s for a couple hours. Mark, it was a pleasure meeting you, and I'm glad that the car ended up with a Rennlister who is so actively involved in the 928 community. Good luck with the car.

Here's a pic of the car ready to go this morning:
