Oh yes James-it's the power! That's why I joined Rennlist-for the power of the forums and my ability to close a thead! From here I figure my next step is politics...

Yes this thread became weird and a waste and I apologize for that-at least I hope it brought some entertainment.

I closed the thread once he told me it was sold because I was pissed with him and put up with a lot of questions and wasted time-mine and others--as well as those who private messaged me who were actually interested in buying the car. I knew I couldn't answer or reply or follow the thread until after 5. Well it turns out I only got home from work after 10 to respond.

My so-called friend and co-worker was chomping at the bit to sell on Thursday, asked me to list it for him and I did. He read off the specs of the car to me and I asked him to bring documentation and pictures otherwise the thread is worthless.

I figured from the quality of the interior, how it rode and how well sorted it was that this would be the ideal place to sell it although I told him his price was too high. Suddenly on Monday he remembers to tell me it has been turbocharged. On Thursday it only had nitrous. I guess it was a weekend project for him while he was away on his anniversary.

Today he tells me he took a lot less than asking (still 5 figures) and a project car in trade-or so he claims-I can't be sure of anything he tells me now-whether personal or related to work. I wonder now if it's even his car we drove in...

Promised, promised, promised the documents and pictures. Weird it got. Up until now he's been, so I thought, straightforward. Going forward I've got to question anything he is working on with me.

I've learned one thing-never-ever-ever try to sell a car for a friend unless you've got every single detail in hand-otherwise it leads to embarrassments like this. I think I will call him Kramer (no offense to Rennlist Member Cosmo Kramer) for I feel like Jackie Chiles right now...

Good explanation. Lesson learned. Lock it and lets drive-on.

I thought you were fine.

I was planning to contact you to help pimp my car when it is ready to sell. Just kidding.

Don't worry - people will only razz you for the remainder of the Women of Rennlist Calendar year.

.....but, whatever you do, DO NOT, under any circumstances, ask it to "PLEASE DELETE"!
That will invite in one jleidl with stuff you can never unsee!

Oh I learned never, ever, ever, to put the words "PLEASE DELETE" in a thread (except as used in quotes)...what's that thread count up to these days??

So the 4 second 1/4 mile continuom transfunction flux capacitor 928 went for sale for double ACV and 7 pages on RL without a single pic and a spec of backup?

Perhaps it became obvious this was NOT the crowd to try to sell these exaggerations to?

If he managed to sell the car (lets assume it exists), it was presumably advertised somewhere so the new owner could find out it was a) for sale, and b) they wanted it?

Michael, this thread turned out better humoured than I expected.. now stop posting about other stuff and show us pics of the '89 auto you bought :P

Hilton, he claims an old acquaintance bought it who he "thought wasn't interested."

My pictures are here:

Cool, I remember that advert. 928's look great in GP White.

I like the interior colour scheme - I've been tempted for a while to change my '89's interior to something like that when I get through my list far enough to get Paul C to do some front seats.
