Default new 928 camshafts

The old thread was closed by the mods, though I was not informed of it.

So I am going to make this short and sweet.

This is just to let those on this board know that I had a couple of calls into my cam guy with him not getting much back from the manufacture.

I then asked him to please get an ETA from them as we have been more than patient.

We ended the call and he called he factory and after an hour or 2 phoned me back.

There has been a problem at the factory to do with surging power to the building which kept blowing out their machines. I am told that until this problem was fully corrected (it is now), that they were on hold as they were not willing to risk quality.
However at this time there is of course a large back log of orders to punch out.

The cams will be ready to ship from the manufacture in September.
As soon as we have them they will be being ground to the specs that you choose and will be being shipped.
To be on the safe side I am going to say that we will have the cams ready to ship in Oct.

I am sorry for the delays that have happened on this, and wish that I had more time to hound them on this. However we now do have a timeline to go on!

Why would the other thread have been closed?

BC,

I did not close it, so it would have been a mod.
I was just using this thread to give the heads up to those not on RW.

Thanks Colin for the report. I know just how these kinds of things go especially when you have to depend on someone else for their performance. I for one appreciate your staying on top of this; and I will look foreward to further info as it may develop. October actually looks like a good time for me. When it gets closer I'll be getting in touch with you about my grinds. Thanks again. Jerry Feather

Jerry,

it is very difficult having to rely on others and meet deadlines etc.
However I was willing to wait the extra time for getting proper quality!

Colin,

Great to hear the update on manufacturing, I'm grateful you've taken the time and effort to put the group buy together.

Have you had any further thoughts on a third grind, something more agressive than the lower spec but not as aggressive as the 'race' ones? I recall there was talk of this on the RW thread, especially for those of us with GT's or GT cams.

Excitement levels rising!

Colin:

Feel/hear your frustration. Seems like a power surge problem to a building is something that should be fixed in hours...not months. I'm having problems with suppliers, also. Seems like everyone wants to sit around a bitch about the economy, but not many want to do the work required to fix it.

Good luck.

Hey thats great news , cant wait to fit them in my project to test what some agressive cams can transform this engine into.
