Great video! Shows me how far I've come (not verry) and how far I still have to go. Definitely picked up a few line pointers and can see that I'm coasting way too much and down shifting way too soon. I'm also still shuffle steering, so need to work on hands. How much time do you think you lose not having 2nd gear?

Camera was vibrating more than your usual videos. Any changes to the GoPro setup or mount?

Thanks!

I know that the lack of 2nd was about 2 seconds, because as soon as it became unusable, I tried to do a hot lap with only 3rd and 4th and the best I could muster was a 1:39.5. the lap it broke, i was route for a mid 1:37 and the prior lap was only lap 2 and with a bunch of gas and still tires not fully up to temp.

the camera is a cannon camera/video (go pro was rear view cam)
its not the best, and I has a safety strap I use to stablize. since the prior car crash, havent got it right yet.

Mark I have properly torqued my own only to have them back out over time. I now use lock tite.

I think I was the one that put that front and rear shifter system together and I seemed to remember to leave it a bit lose because I wanted the shifter centered properly. I mean I tightened it, but knew it was not the final tightening. Well, that was a mistake! anyway, in the race, i thought the shifter lever was going to break again, but then because I could force the car into 3rd, and a little further, to reset 2nd, i knew it had to be in that rear section. I only used 2nd again when i almost caught Smith at the finish because he blew another Diff.
I just cant get over how much equipment these guys have (i.e. PTG M3, nascar like camaro) and run the exact same times as my old dog! (with a stroker) feels pretty good, even if some of the brain fart mistakes cost me a place in the race. Heck, at least im finishing the races!

BTW, the camaro hit the "red" birm so hard on turn 4 that it knocked his car at almost a 45 degree angle and off into the outer exit birm and almost into the stands. he saved it. (the cloud of dust in my camera) and then realized that he bent his frame because he had 1" of toe in now.

all in all, a great little short race weekend. got my fix and back to work fully rested after enjoying the normal race 2 sunday, with the kids.

When are you coming up again?

Mark

Did you like the rev limiter hits?

You looked faster leaving it in 3rd gear!

nah, lost 2 seconds a lap, and you can see how early I have to get off the gas, as it could actually go to 7000rpm if the car didnt have a rev limiter.
especially out of the corkscrew and turn 11 and turn 2. huge difference!
