Dude, sorry for your loss. What happened doesn't make much sense to me. Most thieves would try to make as little noise as possible, ****** what they are after, and run ASAP. Instead it looks like they went after every window..this looks more like the intent was vandalism over theft and the tools were a bonus.

For what its worth, I think your 928 is one of the nicest looking pre S4 models I have ever seen...the black on black with black cups work really well together. I hope you are able to get her back together at reasonable cost and minimal head-ache.

Brendan I will call you in a few hours, but I gotta let the Ins company take a look first at it all busted up so they can do their 'estimate' for me. Forcast shows sunny and I have the car with some plastic over the openings and covered with a car cover in the apartment spot.

Everyone in my complex is pissed this happened as they see me work on the car all the time and keep it clean, lol. I thought for a while that some people respected a well kept car, but guess not its all fair game. I think I am going to rent someones spare spot in the complex monthly, hopefully get more details on that soon so neither of us have to park on the street.

Thanks to everyone for the wishes and help. Ill get this sorted out and hopefully get a good guy to polish it back up as this glass dust has left some small scratches, good thing I waxed it like just over a week ago!

luckily your old car mangled will forever take place in my head as 'worse-case senario' (esp caused by a honda!). So I have some reference on how easy I got it! lol.

That's terrible. Effin' douchebag. When you get it all fixed up you might want to consider one of these:

Or one of these(starting at 1:38):

Unfortunatly it was probably the sub/bass and stereo they were after.
When you get back together don't get another sub they may be nice but bring too many problems.

Also you should consider getting the correct thickness of lexan (preshaded possibly) and install that. Then laugh when they try to break it as they won't be able to!

There is an ad on CL in Tuscon, Arizona of a guy that has new in box Porsche 928 windows for sale fairly cheap.

http://tucson.craigslist.org/pts/1737639147.html

Very sad to see your car in that shape. I had a similar ocurrance to my Turbo Coupe T-bird at a movie theater in Atlanta. I was watching the movie The Sixth Sense and had a terrible feeling (like I was going to **** my pants and throw up all at the same time) for about 2-3 minutes in the middle of the movie. When we came outside to the car, the passenger window was busted. Nothing stolen, but they broke the cassette player door from the factory Ford stereo. I found out that they hit a Lincoln in the same lot and stole the factory stereo. Obviously that's what they were after. I figure that I was feeling sick because they were in my car. They didn't look for anything else in there as they would have gotten my cell phone, cash, and other valuables hidden in the console if they had looked. Cost me $75 for a window, having to clean up all the busted glass, and having to apologize to my date for having to sit in the back seat on the ride home with an open window while it was about 30 degrees outside. Hell, I would have given them the $20 factory radio if they wouldn't have busted the $75 window! Ignorant low lifes are usually the culprit in these incidents. Maybe Darwinism will catch up to them soon...

karma = the culprits getting shot the next time they go tiptoeing across someone's yard.

people who break into cars should be treated the same as robbing banks.

hell that money's insured.

electrical shorts can cause any number of systems in a car to fail.

wow looks like the broke all the glass except the windshield. Thats pretty bold. It looks personal like maybe someone you know. Or hopefully you dont have the habit of rolling around your 'neighborHOOD' with your music blasting. I always turn it down close to home no need to advertise. But its a shame this happens. At least the car wasnt stolen or torched. In Jersey where I lived for 1 year my roommate had his car torched (well, he was sleeping with someones wife so go figure....)

Man, sorry to hear. If I were closer, I would let you come pull all of the glass off of one of my parts cars. I have all of the stuff, but that would probably kill you on shipping. Let me know if there is anything you need.

What part of town are you in?

Sorry to say, but having valuables visible from the outside is just an invitation to try and get at them.

At a minimum you should always have the rear cargo cover in place.

Well it was clearly scoped out prior, with the tint on there you can't see anything in the back the way I had it set up.
I like my sound system set up pretty nicely because I drive quite a bit and like to enjoy it, but I guess Ill have to live without some low-end until I get garaging again.
My land lady set me up with an in complex spot!

@Big Dave: where is the German car theft video with teh flames coming out the sides?

@Colin: Lexan would be funny and shed a few pounds! lets see em hole punch that.

@Randy: Linda Vista / Clairmont area, real close to Mesa College.

Yes I hope they die of gonorrhea and rot in hell, fortuanetly those low lifes do always get whats coming to them one way or another. They die in a gang, get beat up, and are losers needing to steal stuff. After some time and a little money I will still get to drive around in my clean 928. If they wanted the stuff, fine, hope it was worth splitting the $100 they are gonna get 4 ways (im sure there were more than 3 people), if somehow they know me and wanted to vandalize on purpose, well they didn't really get to me too much, not a hot head and no sense letting them win by bringing me down... a loser is a loser.

So far it looks like there is enough spare glass around that its not as big a deal as I had previously thought, so I do feel alot better. Gonna call Brenden now.

AFAIK they have to pay to put a factory unit in, Im curious to see this estimate, lol. I want them to call the Porsche dealership and price it all out new and hand me a check! lol

I THINK tho that new laws may have passed a few years back that allows them to use aftermarket parts if new ones are 'above reasonable cost', they should have to tell you tho.

Exactly - they don't want to cover aftermarket? They can pay for a factory unit. That road goes both ways.
