Default Front jack point clarification

I have searched the jacking posts and have seen discussion about using jack stands under the front bash points just behind the tow eyes. before I stick a jack under these I wanted to make sure I was using the right spot.

Please confirm that the area behind the tow eyes are the bash points and suitable for jack stand support.

Thanks
Jim

I use that hard point for the jack and put jack stands on the regular jack points under the front fenders....the reinforced jack points.

Yes they can be used as jacking/stand points. I use those points to jack up and then put a jack stand under the factory points behind the front wheel arches, where you can get good location of the top of the stand. The bash points points are more difficult to use a stand under ... you would really need a stand with a cup top like a trolley jack to get stability. Whatever you use make really sure it's stable.

I do it the same way that Jim does - I don't like the stands under the "bash plates", as you referred to them.

I usually jack on the official jackpoint and put jackstands in the bash plate area, but only immediately under the A-arm bracket bolts. Those are very sturdy, probably sturdier than the jack point which seems to get mangled over the years. You need the type of jackstand that spans the bash plate and makes contact with the bolts for this to be a stable point. Whatever you do, make sure you have something solid in addition to jackstands under the car.

I jack the bash, and stand on the pads.
IMHO not enough area on the bash for a stand

Thanks all. I will be jacking the bash points and putting the jack stands under the factory jack points.
