The typical stock C4 runs 15's (high) at the local track and the C5's run in the 14's. Stock C5 zo6's run in the high 12's low 13's. Just go sometime and see. Sometimes you see one with drag radials dropping a 1/2 second, but I'm talking bone stock. I have yet to see a C6 at the track so I don't know how hyped they really are. But they all drive well, till you drive a 928 then they feel like crap to me.
Your absolutely right, its all about the driver mod with corvettes. You cannot discount the Z06 though they are fast cars. C5 Z06's with just drag radials have been known to dip into the 11's and even C6 Z's have hit high tens with DR's. In stock trim.

The two you posted were not convertibles either.......

Base C4's after 91 still have an LT1 which is no slouch either.

Makes me wonder what kind of comments I would have gotten if I had dusted him in the 951!??!! We probably would have only run to 50mph before he lifted.

Please don't try to pick a fight, all Im saying is that both the base model C5 and C6 that were in the photos come in convertible variants. I was just trying to verify that the OP was not claiming he had stuck with either of these. I am aware that Corvette has many performance models that such as the C3 big block Stingray, GS and ZR-1 that could dust an 83 928 with relative ease. I was just trying to put the clues together to figure out what type of Corvette it was.

Fine, maybe it was one of these

Here is a C4 ZR-1 Convetible, very rare but they do exist.

The 96 GS did come in a convertible

I did a little looking on the interwebs for pics of the Goverment Motors vehicle that I came up against and I think it was a C4 convertible form the details I remember. I care so little about any Vette post '73 that I was paying little if any to the details of it, but from matching the picture my brain took of the car and matching it to pics on web, I am thinking around '92-'96 YM. Irrelevant IMO, as I'm sure he would have dusted me if he'd have stayed in it, but my point was that my pulling even with him, he was worried I had something under the hood that would embarass him.

Some people have been known to kick it a bit just to see how far the other guy will go to "win" with no intention of ever really RACING . They just want to see the other guy try I just imagine on the Corvette forum the guy telling HIS story.....Yea I suckered this guy in an old 928 to try to get that thing moving pretty funny when I lifted and he putted away it was classic !

No, they ban you for street racing stories over there.

The folks over there really seem to like the 928's and most Porsche's over all, it is the C4's they hate.

Go figure them hating a Corvette, but they do, just visit the OT section and you will see it is the truth.
