Just want to say hello. Searched the site for some time and finally bit the bullet this weekend. Flew out to the midwest to purchase, and drove it back home 500 miles. No problems. Thank god.
Car is in pretty good condition considering its 22 yrs old. Some items of course need some notice. The boot around the manual comes loose during hard shifts, annoying. The shift to first to second is kinda sloppy. Will a short shifter assist with that? Many missing bolts for the floor carpeting as well. Missing screws, blah, blah blah....
Car is a bit louder then I thought it would be. Not engine noise, but road noise. I noticed that under all the carpeting there is no sound deadner(?) I would prefer the sound of the engine
So now for the questions.
Any info on where to purchase parts (floor carpet holders)? The drivers side carpet is shot! The foam underneath doesn't seems right. Even though I've seen some vendors sell the same thing for around $50. Many things to attend to at this point.
Thanks in advance!!!

Rob Budd for carpet, several options.

Sloppy shifting could be front or rear linkage couplers, or maybe something in the tranny, but length of shifting stick not likely. If the boot is loose, maybe the previous owner was messing around with it?
Vicious circle, remove all the unnaturally occurring noises, and the car gets quiet enough for road/tire noise to be annoying. Best to skip directly to a loud stereo or exhaust system.

Welcome aboard! Read the FAQ sticky thread at the top of the 928 home page - there is tons of info in there. The primary 928 vendors will have pretty much everything you need, at reasonable prices too. Now, pictures are a must!

Wow! Deja ecrit!
Here's my car. I picked mine up from Atlanta and drove it back to Colorado.
My shift boot comes off if I push down to first too hard. Have a new set of shifter bushings in the garage, but haven't had time to install them yet. Let's see who gets to it first... hopefully it's a good solution for both cars.
Welcome.
Cheers,
Paul

Thanks for the greeting fellas. I havent driven any other , so it's hard to judge the play in the stick. As for the carpet, only the drivers side is messed up but I need the missing screw downs that keep them in place. Photo to follow shortly.

Congrats!
To fix both the boot popping off, and the sloppy linkage contact Rog100 above and ask him about the short shifter I designed. It will correct both of those issues.

Congrats and welcome.
I found both of my 928's were much noisier then I expected. Some have installed sound deadening materials like Dynamat with good success.

Alright, so the original stuff isn't available, but same diff--only more expensive...but theoretically quieter.
