Not too long ago (maybe half a year or so) I found an excellent write-up somewhere over internets. It had a lot of pics, all the needed info about removing pilot/clutch bearings and so on - looked pretty much like one of Dwayne's manuals. The problem is: I saved the link on another PC and can't seem to find it now. ![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Did anyone else see this write-up and could you please help me find it?

Best tip: don't drop the pressure plate on your head.
Have a second person thread a tie down through the bellhousing to support the weight, then the person underneath lines evrything up.

Thanks for the tips!
I already partially took it apart (and no, I didn't end up with pressure plate hitting my head, but damn that thing is heavy!).
BTW, the car I'm working on is '90 GT.
pjg, thanks.
It's not the one I was looking for, but is looks comprehensive enough.

How about this one? There is a lot of other stuff going on but there IS a clutch job in there.
The adjacent disassembly page has other clutch details buried within.

Yea, exactly! That's the one I was looking for!
Thanks a lot - I was mainly looking for it for that lot of "other stuff".![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Much appreciated.

Sharkskin-I learned a lot reading your thread. Nice job! I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I'm not sure this is something I should bite off. Approximately how many hours would you estimate it takes to do this job? Ballpark $ range in materials? Thanks!

Frank, if you're not going to balance the entire rotating assembly you can probably do the job(clutch only) in ~4 hrs. If you are going to do that, I'd suggest doing the RMS since you'll be taking the flywheel off in that case. Add an hour of actual labor plus turnaround for balancing. If the flywheel is coming off I suggest you add a set of FW bolts to your parts list. You don't need to tear it down anywhere near as far as I did; TT stays in, just remove the lower BH and you can R&R the clutch.
The cost will depend on whether you have a dual-disk or single-disk clutch, and which parts need replacing. Minimally I would recommend PP, friction disk(s), TO/pilot bearing/guide tube, and plastic insert for the release arm ball. Stub shaft will likely need replacing; I recommend that if there is any visible wear at all, especially on dual-disk. Any of the 4 major 928 vendors can price out the parts for your application. You can probably bring it in under a grand for single disk, $1500 ± for dual-disk if you need everything. I could be way off, the exchange rate is probably not any better than when I bought my parts. Balancing cost me ~$180 IIRC but the car revs extremely smoothly. I changed too many things to be sure how much of the improvement is attributable to the balancing, but it was way off -- I have no regrets.

Here's the dummies edition of the clutch pack disassembly/assembly for a single disk clutch, starting at post #6:
