Here are pictures from today: http://www.flickr.com/photos/trav_yo...7624018810794/
And here's the set from when I bought it in 2007: http://www.flickr.com/photos/trav_yo...7624018826032/
Not a lot of progress in 3 years, but my insurance sure is a lot higher (per Landseer's comment)

Lowering price for anyone on this list who wants to come pick it up this weekend. $2000 for everything you see in the latest pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/trav_yo...7624018810794/
Car plus full '87 red leather interior and clean rear red bumper, plus a few other random parts. If I don't sell this weekend, it's going on eBay.
Will also trade everything for $2k toward a '74 or older clean and running 914 selling for up to $10k, that is in a condition similar to one of these:

I remember you were trying to sell around this time last year, Travis. Sorry to see that you've changed your mind since last time you changed your mind. Maybe you'll change your mind again?
Wow, I've been out of the loop -- I didn't realize you had moved to Berkeley, and more importantly, I missed the burnout story?!? Got a link?
Kidding aside, I wish you the best of luck.

Hey Dave,
Yeah, I moved to Berkeley about a year ago into a house without a garage, so I've been renting one from someone else the whole time and the 928 became an outta site, outta mind thing. You're right about me changing my mind. I had a hard time putting it up for sale and even now, I keep thinking I should just bite the bullet and put the money I've saved into it and keep it. This car is like a crazy girlfriend who's really good in bed. I want to keep her, but if she sticks around much longer, I'll lose my own sanity (if I haven't already).
Here's the burnout story: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-of-speed.html

Kiesan, that is a beauty! You selling? What are you asking? PM me if you're serious and that thing has a good hell hole and I can drive it back to California.

OK, so some new developments are underway.
Today, I decided to pull the plugs and see if any of them are wet from not firing. I only pulled one before noticing that my green wire (now brown) was in serious disrepair. I tried to unplug the connector, and it fell apart in my hands. It's now destroyed.
Concurrently, I was looking for a 914 on craigslist and came across a guy selling one who claims to be a Bosch fuel injection expert. He lives in Berkeley. I called him and, in a savant sort of way, he described to me that my problem might be due to an air bubble in the injection system which was a consequence of blowing the radiator hose. He's coming over tomorrow to look at it.
Also, on Friday, I passed the first round of interviews for a company in Emeryville who are hiring for a job which is about 6 miles from my house. I have been looking for a more fuel efficient car (914) for my 45 mile daily commute, but if I get the new job, that issue may become moot.
So, here we are. I'm going to alligator clip my green wire together tomorrow and see if I can work out my idling issue, but if the stars align, I might be changing my mind... again.

Also, my aunt, whose garage my car is now in, said to me last night, verbatim: "When are you gonna get that fcking Ferrari, or whatever it is, out of my garage?"
Just makes me want to keep it more.

The 914 is just crazy original and rust-free. Grandma Eve was fastidious about keeping it that way. It has a dealer-stamped service booklet almost all of the way up. Not 100% rust free but damn near close. The hell-hole is heavenly... very, very solid. Thats the battery mount area, yes?
There is not any reason one couldn't drive this car to 'cali from Seattle. What a great trip that would be if you went down around St. Helens/Rainier and through central Oregon. I'm sure you know all the fantastic roads in NorCal.
Right now the 914 is getting fussed around with at a genuine old-skool Porsche shop here in Seattle, Aker's Porsche/VW. The owner there is 70-yo and was playing with this stuff in the 60's. He's giving the car a once-over and getting some details sorted for me.
I've got a friend who might be a player for your '79. Let me chat with him and I should be able to come up with a $$$ number in addition to your 928 and associated bits that would work for the 914.
