Kie: This car should go into a collection, not an every day driving situation. Kind of like your Blue 928...

Kie,

You come across the COOLEST CARS BRO'! BLUE82 could not be better! I guess I have put about 125 miles on her since she came to live here in Central Texas and have spent MUCH, MUCH more time sitting in the UNREAL SEATS sniffing that new car smell!!! What a car! I could not be happier with any car really! So glad to be the keeper of the flame!

Yeah, Nicole is probably right.

But Kiesan, definitely let me know when you have a $$$ number. I'm very interested. I have a guy coming by today to see if we can figure out the idling issue. I'm going to try to get it back to running and smogged status before it gets sold.

OK, so my new "Bosch" friend who I met by answering an ad for a 914 for sale came over today and got my idle a lot closer to where it should be and found a vacuum leak (smelled where it was coming from). We then proceeded to do a little surgery. Also, I was checking my green wire (now brown) yesterday and the whole connector disintegrated in my hand as I pulled it apart. So, I'm about to spend another ~$300 on parts this week and have made a new deal with myself. I'm interviewing for a job about 6 miles from my house (passed first round), which will cut my commute by about 80 miles a day, so if I get the job AND can get the shark smogged, I'm gonna paint it. Now, I didn't say keep it... yet.

This car is like a crazy girlfriend who's really good in bed. I want to keep her, but if she sticks around much longer, I'll lose my own sanity (if I haven't already).

Here's the burnout story: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-of-speed.html
Thanks for the link, Travis. Quite a story. BTW, I thought sanity was out the window a long time ago?

I guess I'm getting an offer for the Emeryville job on Monday. Anyone have some Pascha to trade for my '87 red sport interior?

Just watching your story; congratulations on the job! My commute is only 4 miles and I love it.

So how much for the 914, Mr. Kiesan?

That 914 is way cool! A walk down memory lane ... when the sticker mentioned notable features like heating and ventilation ...

Got the job! Got a promotion, raise and signing bonus! 10 minute commute! I'm stoked!

I'm buying parts and bringing her back to life!

There we go. Took me awhile, but I finally figured out how to change the title --it's been awhile.

Thanks everyone for the good luck wishes and congratulations, especially you Bill, because you spent a whole afternoon helping me with those ball joints and I'm not sure I could face you having sold it. btw: I'm right over the hill from you now, so if you ever need an extra set of hands, let me know.

Funny thing is, if you look at the original date and time of this post, I posted it on the day of Sharks in the Park, which I didn't realize at the time. I went out and ran some errands and came home around 1:30 to see if anyone replied. That's when I started reading some other threads and realized that I just missed the party --about 4 miles from my house. I could have driven the shark there at the time, and I bet someone would have been interested, and who knows, in my state of frustration, I would have likely given it away.

So, maybe it's fate.

Anyway, I just picked-up some new vapor hose this morning and now just need that reducer, which I think I'll find today, and I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be driving it down the hill to get smogged tomorrow.

Any suggestions on which smog shop I should use?
