Default Help with 86.5 Xpipe,FPR, and chips.

For those who have done this, a few issues.
Doing finally the conversion of X pipe,87 FPR, and chips.Question

Fitting on FPR- 87 has a thread end and tube fitting on old. Just get an adapter fitting?
Smog pump. Just run a shorter belt? Since all the adjustment is in the pump fan to crank would have to be exact. Electric fan? Which one? Make a pulley with adjustment?
X pipe. I don’t see an O2 sensor but don’t have the old all the way off. Plug the fittings in the Xpipe.
Thanks maybe you can save me some figuring.

Make sure you have the right FPR. I was sent the wrong one initially, and it sounds like you also have the wrong one. The FPR on the 86.5 is at the rear of the engine on the passenger side so make sure you not comparing it to one of the dampers. The fittings on the the FPR should match exactly, no adapter required.

Default FPR

Thanks Don. The one on the passenger side toward the firewall has a fitting that the rubber hose slips over and clamps. The one I was sent from Tom has a screw on fitting. I have located the metric apapter and have installed.
I have plug(s) for the fittings in the X pipe that is/are unused. Perhaps I am just not seeing the O2 sensor yet.
Still have a question on the smog pump and fan belt.

Verify the Bosch part# on the FPR: 0 280 160 262. The '87 FPR should look just like the '86, with two threaded fittings, and a hose barb. '88-'95 have three threaded fittings.

To retain the stock clutch fan, use a 20" or 21" belt (size depends on option M319/M570). (More info.)

Stock O2 sensor is on top of the cat in the balance pipe. If it is original, you may want to get a new one. You need to remove the lower part of the fuse/relay cover to R&R the sensor wires.

A threaded to hose adapter? Pic? Part#?

I keep meaning to look for something like this, in case the '87 FPRs become scarce.

Default Hose adapter

I took both regulater into a hose/gasket store we deal with. Wound up with a hydraulic hose fitting as follows:
100417900406 04 HYD APAPTER 90 ELBO
094079000405 05 SWIIVEL HOSE FTG
It comes off at 90 degrees and still have some messing with to get it oriented right to miss air intake tube.
I am assuming Tom sent me a later model regulator which will still function properly. Sorry no pic yet as I don't have a camera or phone with me that takes a pic.

Back left side of the fuse panel is where you will find it. You might have to remove the bottom board to get to it.

Red?

Maybe an aftermarket wire? Does it go down through the floor at a rubber grommet under the carpet? Once you remove the heat shields you'll see where the wire comes through and be able to trace it to the O2 sensor. Middle of the 'Y' where the exhaust pipes come together into the stock cats.

Default Yes

It goes through a rubber gromment in the "hump". There are 2 connections which lead under the boards. Good news is chips and FPR are in and we have ignition. Just idled for a while but it runs.
I do have the 319 high speed fan option so I guess the 20" belt is the one.
