sounded more like "herbie".
My 89 will not let you lock the key in the car from the drivers side door or the hatch.......
If you want to do that you have to do it from the passenger side door.
And I agree on giving out the secret........... we should not do so, with the exception of known, high quality people.

That sucks! I don't see why they couldn't have made a key on the spot. Had it done a few times w/ a couple old benz's. Maybe they don't have blanks?
Glad you made it home.

I watched Roger break into his GTS a few years ago, but I'll let him chime in on the method if he wants, maybe it too is top secret.
Member since 01, can someone PM me the secret?

I can't see how this can stay a secret. The information is contained in one thread having to do with keys locked in a 86.5. No jack or rock needed.

Thanks to all...for the venting and the help with the secret way to not have the same thing happen and the costly result ever again.....2 ways....God wish I had known that 48hrs ago...would have saved a bundle and damage. The secret is safe with me...until I decide to upgrade from my 86!...lol

2 rules: 1. if your car can lock itself, never ever ever ever ever leave the keys in it. Not in the ignition, not on the seat. Not at the gas station, not anywhere. A Jag XJ6 will teach you that in no time. And if you sail, never ever ever ever ever carry your car keys in your hand on the dock...

I love this one. Me an a buddy were out on the dock at Greer's Ferry. As he steps from my boat to the dock there is a splash into the water; he has this horrible/ghastly look of shock on his face. Those really cool shorts that he's had for 30 years with all the holes in them? Well, his keys found their way out. Right into 54 feet of water...
