Hope this makes sense, will the new climate control head work with the very non basic, early units?
My 81 only has one solenoid, two hard wires (temp and air location) fan switch, and A/C button.

This is such a good thing, solutions for many of us, and fire under the feet for everyone still rolling their own designs. I expect to see some totally insane systems at events over the next couple of years.
Mother boards tend to be revised and/or replaced every six months or so, is this suitable for pretty much any Matx motherboard?
Combined with a partial conversion to LED lighting, this could easily be a power neutral upgrade.
Given the car environment, some kind of active fan cooling, and air filtration might be very desirable.
Serious eye candy, any thoughts of reducing the temptation for thieves to break in and steal it?
Any planned non sunroof option for the switch panel?

HP - Currently, I have only looked at the 84+ climate systems. I dont have easy access to an early style car to work with, but I may be able to come up with something - but it will certainly not be part of the early release.
Danglerb - To address your specific questions, cooling will be addressed as necessary. There are many simple answers to that problem, including borrowing the glove-box cooler connection, to simple PC-case fan. When the brackets are ready, I will be doing extensive testing and datalogging to provide a properly sized cooling option. This is a relatively futureproof desgin, as it will accept any size mini-itx standard board. This format should be around for some time to come, but I will certainly keep up with the times, and if the board standard changes, will have new brackets available to support future similar sized (or smaller) format boards. I dont see this as presenting a theft issue any greater than other double din or factory solutions on modern cars. However, it may be possible to make a cover to go over the console when not in use, as for all intensive purposes, the console is now very flat, and a passive anti-theft cover could be easily fashioned.

Have you guys considered mini-USB or micro-USB connectors? The stereo in my car has one and it is very small and very inconspicuous.

Hans is right about that one. The design we have settled on will be an exact replacement for the factory multiple units. Just remove the old stuff and pop the new in.
By the way, the brand new Aston Martin Rapide, and the whole Aston range for that matter, as a recessed faceplate on their award winning center console

You both get a PorKen Design Approved stamp (isn't that spe-shul) for no cutting of the original panels. Well done.
I guess it's true that if you sit still long enough, whatever you have will be back in fashion, eventually.

Danglerb,
For a non-sunroof car, the ideal use of that switch is to open the hatch. Gets rid of those tow (on non-GTS cars) lumpy things by the sill, easily accessed from either side, looks original, etc.
Did that on the GTS when I removed the rear wiper.

The hatch is included as you can see on the preliminary drawing I posted.
We are still looking at having different configurations. The electronics side is already taken care of, but doing variations, in production, is always a problem.
The first versions will be directed to the common denominator, as evident by that drawing, where we left the rear wiper, even though Hans car, my own car and Dan's Turquoise car I'm working on all have the rear wiper delete.
We will have a few versions available, among the most common, with the possibility to add more when/if the demand it there.

Hans, I would never consider desecrating a Champagne interior but I just looked at a 148K Aston Martin Volante on ebay and guess what: It had cupholders in the center armrest! BTW, I do not drink (coffee) while driving ,but road trips do often require some beverage consumption along the way.

Absolutely interested as long as it could be incorporated into the design. Don't really have much room to store a security cover.

I even have a few with a gun compartment
The switch module is actually thin enough that it could be moved to another area quite easily. And with some modifications, a nice, functional, cupholder could be fitted in that realestate.

Hans and Paul,
I think this is a great update to such a classic car that looks very modern still. I love the work. Here are a couple of personal notes:
1- Since money is being spend, i would replace the spinning disk (HDD) with a solid state drive or RAM Drive as used in current and future electronics including servers and laptops. Those are long lasting, use less power, very fast and resistant to vibration and environmental factors a lot more than the weak HDD. At least you can offer it as an optional upgrade?
2- I really love the Aston Martin DB9 center consoles, both the 2003-2008 and 2009-onwards as they are simple and straight to the point. Really what a GT should have. I think the 03-08 are even better and simpler than 09 to be honest. I feel a little look and feel weakness in the current layout you have right now for the buttons and *****. I say have big *****, simple layout and big buttons, keeping the 928 feel... then again it is personal opinion i guess....
Still i think it looks great.
