Well, I've posted an ad in "Classifieds."

I'll keep things limited to RL for a week or two. If no interest, I'll swallow hard and list on eBay and locally.

Bigs,

I admire your logic and practicality... Every time you write, I wish I could be a bit more like you...

Hi Bigs - left you a PM - I know its short notice but I just happen to be about 20 min. outside of Provo in Pleasant Grove - would love to come see the car today but I know its Sunday so no worries if we can't make it work. Left you my number in my PM.

One last bump for a couple of minor updates:

1. I purchased an Autocheck report today. Nothing new to add. BTW, the single accident occurred on 9-15-2000.

So the buyer will receive three printed reports with the car: CarFax, Nadaguides, and Autocheck.

Actually, as I peruse the Nadaguides report, it appears that they use the Autocheck database for their report. So I probably purchased a duplicate report to one I already had. Oh well.

At any rate, the car qualifies for "Buyback Protection" from both CarFax and Autocheck if anyone's interested.

2. The car was last registered in January of this year. It passed Utah emissions and safety inspection.

3. There is no lien on the car. It is paid off, and I hold the title.

It is a beauty.........

I have too many, to justify adding another to the stable of ones, I already do not get to drive often enough.....

The person who buys this car will get an awesome deal for a most excellent car.

Yes, you are being practical bigs, and some day I will have to consider that course, also....... I do NOT look forward to becoming that mature........

OK folks -

I plan to place my car on Autotrader and/or eBay this coming week. I will be asking the same $27K I asked here.

However...

I would still prefer the car go to a good home within the Rennlist community. So, in an attempt to encourage that, I am lowering the asking price for the car to $26K - limited exclusively to Rennlist Members.

There is one additional item that needs attention. A week ago Friday, as I was driving the car on I-15 back home from its yearly check-up with Dave Lomas, a rock hit the windshield and created a chip just under the driver-side wiper.

Since it was a little late in the afternoon, and since my father-in-law had just been placed in a care center because of severely deteriorating health (he passed away last Monday), I ended up waiting two days to get the chip plugged on Monday. Well, by Monday I had a 2-3 inch crack. So the windshield needs to be replaced at some point in time.

For any interested party, I can either do that and it will be included in the $26K price... Or the buyer can do it, and I'd be willing to knock off perhaps another $200 from the asking price.

Edit: As I have already stated, if a buyer wants a pristine example, he will need to repaint the car. I took it to a local autobody/paint shop with the best reputation in the county. He does great work. He gave me a bid of $7K for a total repaint. I did this so any prospective buyer would have a ballpark idea as to the cost.

This would include removing all rubber and trim and removing the rear quarter windows, doors and hood.

It would also include a thorough and very careful sanding and prep job. It would not include taking the car down to bare metal. The shop owner was quite firm in his opinion that taking the car down to bare metal really did not confer any advantage if it was sanded and prepped properly.

He prefers NEXUS AutoColor paint - and insists on the actual German product. (AutoColor was previously purchased by PPG, but apparently still has a German factory.)

Final offer!

Bigs, that is an AMAZING deal on a full repaint! Makes me wish I had shipped my '92 up to that guy! I could have had my whole car painted instead of about 65% of it!

Yeah, many things are less expensive here. Dave Lomas also got a bid from a paint guy in SLC. It was slightly more, but in the same range.

My guy in Provo was formerly the on-site paint and body man for the Porsche dealership here in town. When that dealership was sold, he started his own shop. So he knows his way around 928's.

WOW! That is awesome! If I ever need a car painted I will seriously consider sending it to you so you can take it over to your guy for the work! Pulling door and windows and trim and then paint for $7k, that is AMAZING!

What I would like to do is take a black '95 and do just what you are talking about but change the color to Pearlglanz...I figure if you start with black you can avoid shooting wheel wells and engine bay and not feel to bad about it (hell that is what Ferrari did all they way up in to the '80's from the factory)... Then do the interior with Paul C and have it as a tribute to the last US GTS...since that car seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.

Andy,
You could park it in my garage until your wife cools off.

Andy,

There is NOTHING quite like looking in your garage and seeing TWO GTS's parked there! PRICELESS as the commercial says!
