Mike, the last NINE posts were from today...why did it need a "bump"????? The purpose of a bump is to bring a topic that is way down the line (maybe 2 or more pages down) back up to the top...this was already at the top... Etiquette is a good thing to understand.

I can't believe this car is still for sale.
This car is a very fine example of the GTS... And at that price...
The person who will buy your car gone get a great deal.

Good luck.
I got a feeling it will be sold soon.

Meanwhile, deep in Texas, James sneaks quickly about the house and garage, collecting from piggy banks, reaching under seat cushions for coins, in a race against time

Ah... The tragic mistake of asking permission instead of forgiveness!

I would all most bet if I got that car into Kansas, my wife would have a GTS to call her own. At least that is how I would approach it.

You know what this thread tells me? It tells me that those people who "are looking to buy a GTS" are full of $hit! If they were this car would have been gone MONTHS AGO! Clearly the GTS "buyers" are really just **** poor tire kickers! Pathetic...hey, all you GTS owner WANNA BE's, PROVE ME WRONG and buy this AWESOME RIDE ALREADY! PUT UP OR SHUT UP!

Andy and Brent, I am NOT talking about you guys! I am referring to those folks who have started completely new threads about wanting a GTS and then when presented with one of the best deals in 928-land they can't be found again!

I don't know about the other "GTS owner wanna be's", but I would own this car in a heartbeat if it were black or silver. I don't like red cars, and color is very important. So yes there are reasons for passing on a great deal like this.

Dave, true enough...but sometimes a deal is so good that you just have to say WTF and buy! "Not a big fan of red, but I am a big fan of having my cake and eating it too!" LOL!

James -

Well, I don't think I'd be quite THAT harsh!

But there is indeed a minor level of frustration regarding one thing: The paint job.

I've had a fair number of PM's, phone calls, e-mails, etc. from different folks expressing interest in the car. But most of them seem to be quite consumed with the paint issue.

I don't know how better to put it: The paint job is a classic "10-footer." From 10 feet away, it looks great! It looks just like it looks in the pics I've posted.

But if you stick your nose up close to the car, you'll see 2-3 tiny "frog-eyes" on the hood. You'll see a handful of rock chips on the hood and right rear fender. (The car is, after all, 17 years old and is driven quite regularly!) In size they are all about the diameter of a pencil lead or a toothpick. You will also see a few areas here and there where the paint meets a rubber strip or a piece of trim where the clear coat is starting to peel a very small amount. You'll see - if you bend down and look at the very underneath part of the right rear bumper - some scratches, probably from prior improper transport. And if you look from just the right angle, in just the right light reflection, you'll see a faint blend mark in the paint just below and in front of the left side mirror.

So... One more time:

If a buyer wants a pristine, flawless exterior he will need a total repaint job.

Or, he will need to pay +/- $40K to find a flawless GTS.

I seriously doubt that anyone will find a flawless GTS at $26K. So it's the kinda deal where you can't have everything: You can't have a perfect example of a GTS and at the same time only expect to pay $26K!

But I'm willing to bet that even the "flawless" '93 GTS will have interior leather that is worn or cracked. Mine is perfect. Or it will have carpet that is dirty or worn. Mine is perfect. Or mechanical work that needs to be done. My car is mechanically flawless to the best of my knowledge. So I'd bet that most GTS models with a "flawless" exterior - that a buyer would pay top dollar for - would still need a fair bit of money invested to bring them up to the interior and mechanical standards of my car.

Bottom line: I have tried to honestly and fairly price the car at an amount that will allow for a total repaint - and thereby allow a buyer to end up with a flawless car at a good bit less than $40K.

If you are scared away from a $26K GTS by some flaws in the paint, then this car is not for you!
