Default Once More, With Feeling: My '93 GTS For Sale. UPDATE: Price Lowered!

Here's the original thread of 3 years ago with detailed description and pics:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ht=Sale+93+GTS

The last asking price on the thread was $32K.

I'm currently asking (with a more realistic view of the market - I hope) $27,000.

Current mileage is 84.5K. The car has an A/T.

Since the previous thread, here's what's been done:

1. Yearly exam and Pap smear every spring! This consists of oil and filter change, flex plate check, and minor odds and ends.

2. New front tires - still with lots o' tread left. Bridgestone 225-45-17 RE 750.

3. New rear tires just last summer. Bridgestone 275-40-17 RE 960

4. I had a major spiff-up service done last June in preparation for driving the car to Dallas for the 928 OCIC meeting - then had eye surgery and couldn't attend! This consisted of:

New (or rebuilt) timing belt, camshaft gears, tensioners, front main seal, water pump, steering rack boots, tie rod boot, air filter, ball joint cover, engine compartment fuel lines (the old rubber ones were pretty hard and dry), oil pump, and air filter.

Oil and oil filter were replaced. Brake fluid was completely replaced. Tranny was flushed and ATF replaced.

I have all service records and a print-out of both the CarFax report and the NADA vehicle report. Oh, and a dyno report.

Can't remember if I mentioned in the previous thread, but the car has a SLC Motorsport X pipe.

I'll be taking the car up to Dave Lomas later this month for the standard yearly Pap smear, oil and filter change, and flex plate check.

Here are a few newer pics:

So are you looking for something else or are you giving up on the hobby entirely?

For those looking, it's hard to beat a fully maintained GTS in excellent condition.

Good luck with the sale Bigs

I hope you don't sell it, in fact if it goes you aren't selling it but partially giving it away.

I hope it goes to someone that appreciates it and gives it the attention that you did. It is a sweet ride. Best of luck!

Bigs - Sorry to see you drop the shark - hope that doesn't cause a cosmic warp of untenable consequences to the rationality of the universe (i.e., I hope it doesn't screw up your always spot on logic and tact on these forums)

GLWS; great price for a known great car!

I'm probably stepping back from the hobby - at least for a while. I'm gonna be 63 this year, and I won't be working forever under Obamacare.

My home is 26 years old. Last year I replaced the roof, replaced one of the air conditioning units, and replaced a water heater - plus doing a bunch of painting and re-carpeting. That pretty much consumed my "rainy day" fund.

This year we really need to remodel and update the master bedroom and bath, replace the west side windows and French doors - which get exposed to all the weather and summer sun coming from the west - and replace the garage door. Plus our fridge is about dead.

We're doing all these things to make the home more attractive to sell in maybe a couple of years. All six kids are married and gone - so we really need to down-size and get into a smaller home.

And, at age 63, I really don't want to take out any debt to do this work on our home.

So, the shark is paid off and is therefore a source of revenue to update our home. When we sell the home and downsize, there may be enough money left over to get back into some kind of fun car!

From the looks of your house and grounds (and GTS) you don't NEED to work

Just me, but now is the time to be enjoying these things. Keep the car, touch base with friends, travel. Last Fall I took a blue highways road trip with high school friend. Going to do more of that, less work. I know, it's not my life you are living. I'm 64.

It's a sad, sad day in the history of Porsche...

Bigs, I hope at least two people get into a bidding war once they realize what you have and bring the value up to where it should be.

Hey, where is that guy who posted that he was looking for a nice GTS to buy the other day? We have now come across TWO for sale GTS's that are VERY nice! That one for $36k I think it is with 52k miles on it and now Big's... I would certainly think you couldn't go wrong with EITHER of those!
