COLD AIR INTAKE NEXT LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE?
Now that we have the Cold air systems, looking for ideas and help with ideas of the electronic fans into the system.Talks of needing more watts and alternators not being able to handle it I tried to search better fans.So far see 90mm to 120mm fans that may fit into the 3.5 to 5inch pipes. Most fans are small low performance but then came across the 18 and 24 volt model jet planes that have 2000 watt inline fans that run off their own batteries.Anyone familar with the large model jet EDF would like to get some ideas if it would work and if so how much boost?Controller in car to adjust boost? It may or may not work but would be interesting to get some ideas on it.
3000 to 4000 watt with 2 fans pushing air has to make somekind of boost but how much?
These are the 90mm,101mm and 120mm fans

Bin thinking the same thing!
It MITE WORK if you could turn it on and off inside the car...
and if you going 100 mph would it still be pushing air into the intake hard........?

OK here you go ......eRacing :: Products :: e-RAM Electric Supercharger :: 1psi 1 PSI NET BOOST (measured on the intake at wide-open throttle) ... Note: Rubber adapters can mount on any round or oval intake from 2.0" to 3.5" Dia.). ...

Yep, we have a company built around the concept. The lastest eRAM does have near 4000watts, and is built on DC brushless motor technology (like the EDFs you show on the video). This system does require a separate set of small odessy-like batteries for a 24volt system. There is a new DC brushless system that is near 1000watts, near the same as the previous-current eRAM, that runs on DC brushless and is much more efficient.
It is very difficult to create substantial pressure with an axial flow fan, but it is absolulely possible. Much of the gains of the eRAM were due to reducing pressure drops in the intake air box, with some pressurization of the airbox itself or intake tube if it is sealed.

The RC's I've heard with those fans are really shreking loud. Not sure it would be worth the extra engineering and noise for not a lot of benefit. I'd rather plumb a bottle of giggle juice.
Would you run this all the time or would it pe a specific on demand sort of application?

you cant every really hear it, unless you have a stock exhaust, then it is relatively faint. Its only used at WOT! never any other time.
