Sunroof will not close
Driving home yesterday on this beautiful day after work and decided to open the sunroof. When I got home I tried to close it but nothing happened. Very weird that I was able to open it without a problem but when I went to close it nothing. Is there a manual way to close this thing? I checked the fuse and its good. I need to get it closed so I can start driving it to work again.
Thanks

The problem is almost certainly the switch contacts. Work the switch several times before you give up. Yes, you can pop the cover off the sunroof motor and manually close the roof. Many 928s had a manual crank in the tool set to do this - it is just a hex drive.
You can try taking the switch apart and cleaning it pretty easily. Take it apart inside a clear plastic bag so you don't lose any small parts.

There is a tool that is used to close it manually - it's a small funny shaped thing. Youneed to carefully remove the sunroof cover from the roof panel (towards the rear hatch), and that will allow you access to the sunroof motor. Insert tool and start cranking - the tool s/b in the glovebox, and your owner's manual in glove box will show you all pictures of this process. Sounds like a switch crapped out. Check fuse/relay first - a lot cheaper than a switch.

Just took a in depth look at it and it looks like im in for a motor. shucks. I hardly use the sunroof anyways so I don't think this will be a motor I will be replacing unless a replacement is reasonable. doubt it though... oh well! thanks for the help fellas.

Check again before you assume that it is the motor. If it runs in one direction, it is the switch, not the motor. The switch reverses both the power and the ground, so if you have power at the motor when you hold the switch, but the motor still doesn't run, you don't have a ground...
It is almost always the switch...

Hi Wally I know for a fact its the motor. I checked the power wire and I'm getting +12v when I press the sunroof switch one way and -12v when I press it the other way. Motor just hums when connected and will not turn. I also have a 12V power supply which i hooked the sunroof motor up to and it just hums.

It could be that the mechanism is jammed.
I would suggest that you remove the motor for testing to confirm whether the motor is burnt out or running via your independant 12 volt source.

sometimes it's just that little clutch that fails. Cheap fix.
