Thanks, guys! I guess I'd have to pack a sleeping bag... Mountain Lodge does still have rooms, except Friday night. As long as I have a safe place to sleep and take a shower in the morning I'd be fine.
What's the closest airport - Charlotte, NC?
I tried to book online, but will have to call United; their online booking does not accept the ticket voucher they gave me in Dallas, when my return flight from OCIC was overbooked...
Who else is in or coming from Charlotte? It looks like I'd have to fly into Charlotte on Thursday, arriving late and staying there for the night, before I'd head into the mountains. Similarly, I'd probably have to stay a night before flying out. That might give me a bit of time to see the city.
When do you guys expect to get there, and will you all leave on Sunday?

IIRC Ashville is only an hour or so from Banner Elk, I'm on vacation and there all week, I could swing down Thu or Fri and pick you up
I only have a single room though

I heard Eastern TN was not affect (much). I checked the road conditions for the Cherohala Skyway, and they reported all was open.

It seems we ran off the last of the non-928ers at the Best Western!!
They just had 9 cancellations from a wedding party...GO GET EM!!!!

That would be cool!
We could setup some sort of informal protocol like please back your car in lining it up as best you can with the one next to you and don’t park next to one the same color. Also, if you didn’t get to drive in a 928, please park out front by the lobby.
That could make for some interesting photos kind of like this, but only better.
