Default Problem with seat, memory seat, side mirrors.

I've searched the forum but unable to find resolutions. My driver seat, memory seat and side mirror don’t work most of the time. When the seat controls don’t work the other two items don’t work either. Do these items share a relay or power source? Thanks in advance.

Seat memory moves mirror also so they share some electrics. I would start by cleaning up connections under drivers seat. There is lots of stuff under there.

Erkka,
I my mirror memory has never worked in the 10 years that I've owned my '91 GT. Everything else works as it should..just not the mirror memory.
Is there a specific module that controls the mirror memory, and if so, how accessible is it?
Thanks

+1 on cleaning connections

My seat and mirrors were acting flaky and pulling the drivers seat, cleaning the connectors and re-seating everything fixed it up ( Along with connectors on black box in driver footwell near left knee).

FWIW, you'll be shocked at all the connectors, etc....

Ken, Nice color car. What does the black box control? Any recommendations what to use for cleaning ie.. solvent?

From:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...lem-87-s4.html
"The box that drives the switches & LED's etc is actually the mirror memory module that sits in the drivers footwell above the hood release."

The mirror and seat systems are interconnected using complex Porsche hocus-pocus. I'm sure somebody out there knows better than I...

The four threads I used for troubleshooting this issue were:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...questions.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-properly.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...lem-87-s4.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...mlin-pics.html

I used a combination of CRC electrical cleaner, a pencil eraser and a little bit of sandpaper, but it may have just been the simple act of re-seating them that fixed it.... Took much longer to get the seat out the first time than to get electrics clean....

Thanks on the color!

Oh, and the WSM actually has very, very good troubleshooting steps for this system. I'd post the pages, but I'm at work and don't have access to my copy...

Ken, thanks for the links (saving my lazyass from having to do a search myself).
So in reading Alan's comment in one of the threads:
The box that drives the switches & LED's etc is actually the mirror memory module that sits in the drivers footwell above the hood release. This is then connected to the seat memory module & motor drive relays under the drivers seat. The control panel serves both features and seems to be working - so assuming your mirror memory works that whole unit seems to be working fine.
If the seat memory relies on continuity from the mirror memory module, wouldn't the mirror memory contacts have to be okay in order for the seat memory to work? And if that's the case, is it a good guess that my mirror memory module is bad?
Not that I'm opposed to cleaning the module contacts...

Actually the button pad connections go to both memory units but require power from the seat controller.

If the memory buttons work for one but not the other its obviously not an issues with the switches...

The memory features for the mirror are totally within the mirror controller but do rely on power (and LED drivers for the button illumination) from the seat controller - problematic if the seats are swapped for non-memory seats. Likewise the memory features for the seat are totally within the seat controller - this doesn't care if the mirror memory unit is non-functional or missing it will work anyway.

Check the WSM starting at about page 72-7.

Very good troubleshooting write up. You just need to get the seat out, and the mirror control box uncovered, and it walks you through testing each pin and each function. A voltmeter and a little time is all that is required at that point...
