Interior lights relay location
Hi all,
In a couple of months since ownership I have been able to fix most electical gremlins, thanks to your help on this forum. Mirrors, windows, hatch light, back-up lights, fog lights. Only a couple of things left. One of them is the delay on the iterior lights. I bought a new correct relay for this. But does anybody know the exact location of this? Is it hidden behind the dash somewhere?

Is there no relay at all for the interior lights? In another post I read that the relay is not on the CE panel but behind the 'central console', but the description did not go any further than that. I figure that if there is a normal relay somewhere, and I plug in the new one that it should work. If not, then I have a nice and brand new relay on offer :-)

I thought the delay was built into the alarm control unit, at least on later cars. My old MY 88 had a delay relay, but my current MY 91 doesn't and looking at wiring diagram for my car, the interior lights appear to be wired to "control unit, alarm system".
Looking at the relay charts, I don't see an interior light relay for MY84, only 87-90.

Jus for your information: This was what I found in another post, which was on a 1983 model. It mentiond that the relay was located behind the center console. So I figured it must be somewhere else than the CE panel.(I hope the picture is copied into my reply. I am a bit of a noob with all the quote features on the forum)

On later cars there are some relays located in the center console under the radio. They can be reached by removing the ash tray. So if the relay is in the center console, it would probably be there.
