I would like to replace the the 25+ year old carpet in my 84.
I always thought the carpet color was beige; however, I began wondering after looking at the color charts and beige didn't look right.
My warranty booklet has "VY" for the interior code.
A search only provided one reference to code VY in which it LOOKED like champagne II from a shop reference manual. I also searched for a list of interior codes but could not find one.
Can someone point me to a list or identify the color for this code?
Thanks in advance.

According to this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...nd-on-car.html
VY may not exist; it does say Champagne II in the above thread as well.

Hi Mickster - you found the same thread I did. So I wonder if this means it's a custom color?
Like someone brought a carpet square in and asked for this color?
Cheers,

Sean,
Here is a pic. I have seat covers and there are floor mat's that are different colors. The best representation is on the sides of the console.
Thanks for the help.

Classic 9 also sells Silverknit replacement kits for the 928.
Its hard to say what color that is, it looks like linen but I'm not sure if the picture is washed out or if the carpet is faded. Have you looked under the seats to determine if the carpets are faded at all?

Here is the definitive answer:
Interior Trim
VY
Interior Trim
Leather Seats-Grey/Beige
I have used:
http://www.suncoastparts.com/category/VINDECODER.html
To get all details on any cars I've looked at. I just wish they offered more 928 parts as I'd like to patronize them. (I have no vested interest; they use the Porsche database for direct pulls with nearly every detail you could get about your car or a car you are considering purchasing-takes 2-3 days).
It just so happens a car I was shopping had this same color interior. Just went back to my files.

In 84 the standard tan colors available were beige, grey beige, and champagne.
It looks like beige to me.
There were several special order colors available also.

Mr. Merlin,
Thanks for the sample sites, I've checked the colors and also looked at the PET. What's interesting is that beige is listed as grey beige. Just beige is not even in the list.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Michael,
It does seem that the code says the color is gray beige; in fact the PET calls out grey beige; however, if I look at the color it is too grayish.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Rob,
I'm glad you replied. I have a carpet piece that I cut from under the seats and have been looking at and comparing against the carpet colors from all the sites that have been recommended today. It looks lighter than beige, but grey beige is too grey and champagne looks too yellowish.
The light beige from your German Velour page looks just about right.
It compares very good; however, I am comparing the color square against a computer screen of the carpet color.
How does my pic of the color compare to your actual GV light Beige carper color?
If you could, let me know if you see a better match.
Many thanks to everyone for the help,

Make sure you can differentiate between the top 2 or 3 whites and bottom 2 or 3 black shades (gray).
Also make sure you see no color casts/shifts.
