Default VW Lifter in a 32v 928

Is anyone using the VW lifter in a 32v 928 at this time, and are you happy with their performance?

many of the strokers are, including Mike Simard.

They have been tested in high lift senarios upto 8000RPM without any floating or problems.

Is there a thread that discusses them? I searched but could not find it.

I'm wondering iof they have been run with high-strength springs yet.

I have been in contact with the VW guys and most of them are running much stiffer springs than we are in the 928.
Do a search of the VW forums to find the answer you are looking for.

I race VW's in SCCA and can tell you anything you want to know about lifters. Are you stroker guys running solid or hydro VW lifters. What size and year did they come from? VW changed the weight of these lifters a few times as well as dual and single valve spring applications.

Thanks Chewy.

Your questions are spot-on - the same things I am trying to find out. We are talking about a VW hydraulic lifter in use in a 928 32v engine.

What size and year did they come from? VW changed the weight of these lifters a few times as well as dual and single valve spring applications.

The same part numbers will have the same design. A few people are running them, namely dennis kao in this super tuned and modified engine. Higher lift cam, stronger springs - no issues.

They are around 11 dollars online in various places.

I am running these lifters in my Audi 200 20v. It's a street engine that I spin to 8200 rpm. Intake and exhaust lift are both 10.5mm with stiffer than stock springs. It works just fine. I have heard however that for 7500+ rpm sustained use they will pump up and float. Those guys are running the solid counterparts, which are also lighter.

Do you possibly know what the solid part number is?

Yes, using the lightweight VW INA lifter. Completely happy with them. Rev limiter set to 7110 rpm. No problems.
