I went to a Porsche dealership this afternoon and spent/wasted an hour crawling over five different Panamera's. They had two positioned in the show room between a 911 and Chili Pepper. I gotta say from the front it looks like it is spawn of that 911 and Pepper. From the back, meh, not inspiring but not nearly as ugly as in pics. I'd really like to see it at speed with the rear spoiler deployed. I have to say if I found $160k under the couch cushions I'd be driving a Panamera Turbo as my DD. The car is distinctive and therefore unlikely to be confused with an Accord like a BMW is. The performance is perfect and I've gotta say I want to be a passenger in the back seat. The interior is an extraordinary bit of functional and artistic design. I think Porsche has done very well here. I don't think I'd be as interested in a GT coupe as much as the Panamera. I have two GT coupes that are timeless and perform just wonderfully..... one a little more wonderfully than the other.
I give the Panamera Turbo two thumbs and big toes up! I hope they make enough of them to keep the marque alive long enough to insure a good used market in the coming years.
Has anyone here driven one? I am interested in a 928 owner's impression behind the wheel.

I drove the 2S...FREAKING AWESOME! Glad it has a good stability control system! Kept me from spinning it under power! Thing is FREAKIN' FAST and that was the 2S, not even the Turbo BEAST!

The Panamera should have been VWs flagship. Hope they bring out a GT 2 door coupe though...then they might bring out a real sports version...sorta smaller, lighter, more nimble, more fun...hmm what would they call that? lol.

Amazing cars and although large they don't feel that way when behind the wheel. The turbo is unreal and on my list to replace my CT when the extended warranty is up. I actually don't mind the lines of the Panamera. It is definitely form following function but when behind the wheel who sees the *** end except the person you just left in the dust.

One of the local Porsche salespeople told me on the weekend that he sells mainly turbo Panameras these days. Apparently, the clientele for those is least affected by the recession.

There will never be a worthy 928 successor in terms of look and prowess. Back in the days, the 928 was in a class of its own. No peers and nothing even came close. Nowadays, everyone got a high power front engine coupe with similar look and performance. Even with this Porsche coupe, I am sure the performance is going to be awesome, I don't see it regaining the impacts the 928 had. The original 928 captured the true essence of Porsche and a true GT. I don't remember how many times I watched Risky Business just to see that thing run. If I have to pick a modern car to be a 928 successor, I would be looking at the Vantage V12, or a 599GTB. Even then, they still don't give me the chills that the 928 did.
