Okay. How do I time these cams (cam card info)

Note: Some info here is fudged - just the cam lobe dimensions and duration is probably correct.

Just from looking at the specs, I would have to say you need different cams.
I had to be first on that, you know it was coming.

I am getting some much needed and very appreciated help on how to properly time these cams. They are ground from S3 cams, with more lift and more duration. I hope.
I was seeing if anyone here knew what they were looking at and had something to say.
I am installing the cams and need to know how to time them. I stuck with the S3 installation orientation, but after that I don't really know what to do with this specific operation.

Basically they want you to make sure the cams are set to the specs on the card.
The first thing to do is to set up the biggest degree wheel you can get, then find TDC.
From there you verify the settings on the cam card.
Comp cams used to have a good section on degreeing cams.
But the most important thing is to find TDC, then it is simple matter matter of checking, and setting.
The checking at .050 is pretty standard.

Also, I have been told the cams are reversed. Obviously the largest one is the intake. Maybe posting this isn't helping.

Pretend that you have never seen this information....this is a "cam card on acid". I'll send you easy to understand (yeah, right) information in an email.

uhhh....while being very cool....I have NO CLUE what most of that means....about the only thing I do understand is those are seriously high lift cams..especially the one labeled E1...but I'm guessing they got the intake and exhaust backwards

I would crack open the WSM and verify the factory cam specs to see if the new ones are close to what you have had made

They are based on the S3 so they are obviously close. But I need to time these things properly and exactly, so I am trying to learn to get it "right the first time"

Brendan, if they do invite you, make time for it and bring presents. That's definately something worth learning. I'm going to 'degree' cams later today too. I'm so excited!
