Default CIS - Locations of screens ??

My CIS car has ZERO power above 4,000 rpm when under load. I was told that the screens may be plugged. Where are these screens? Pics would be helpfull. BTW, the injectors don't have screens. At least mine don't.

Are you running cats? If you are, that may be the problem.

Did you try pouring techron in the gas tank...that is a great cleaner and could help...

I am not running cats. In fact I'm running headers to a Y pipe to the mid muffler and no rear muffler. I'm pretty sure that the exhaust isn't the problem.

Regarding the Techron. I tried that and went for a drive. The car lost ALL power above 1500 RPM. I replaced the filter ( even though it had less than 50 miles on it ) and removed the fuel injectors. I cleaned the injectors with a good soak in carb cleaner and then blew some through them with shop air. The issue with not having ANY power above 1500 had gone away but now the car will sometimes stall if you rev the engine. It stall when the RPM comes back down. It also doesn't have any power above 4000 RPM.

The injectors actually do have screens inside of them and a reverse flush is the only way to clear them.

There are 2 in the WUR, and a couple on the inlet/outlet fittings in the CIS dizzy.

They used to sell Ford injector rebuild kits on eBay for $20 for the set of 8 that came with new pintles, filters and o-Rings, and they're the same style injectors that the 928 uses. I can't see them now, I only see the rebuild kit for RX7s, which, although they're still the same, only come with enough bits to do 4 for $30 (because RX7s only have 4 injectors). At the $60 range, I'd sooner send them off to Witchhunter to get them rebuilt, repainted, flowed and balanced for something like $15 each, and it comes with a cool report card of how they all flowed to put in your car folder.

Aren't the continuous injectors (CSI) different from EFI (Ford) injectors though?

I'll tell you where they are, and then suggest you send your CIS head out to have it done. It's not for the squeamish. There are screens in the head, once cylindrical screen in the center where the metering plunger is, and then eight smaller ones in the CIS head on each nozzle. Taking this apart is not complicated, but it's easy to damage.

I would not recommend any kind of flushing. If there is gunk in there, it needs to be disassembled and cleaned completely.

CIS injectors are a completly different animal.

1,2, and 3 are CIS injectors. The Ford kit is for #4:

I have found Techron to be a joke when it comes to cleaning up the fuel system. Usually it just loosens the sludge enough that it will get caught somewhere downstream, without actually dissolving it. A pint of Berryman's B-12 in 1/4 tank of gas will dissolve anything except rust in the fuel system. As long as you're going to burn through the treated fuel in a few days then fill it back up, it won't harm the o-rings in the system.

Only found 2 screens on mine at the fuel dist. Problem turned out to be a failing fuel accumulator. First symptom no power higher RPM's, next hard to start, then no start. Only hint was lack of residual fuel pressure when testing.

May want to make sure the screen on the intank fuel pump isn't partially clogged.

Quick responses:

Screen masquerades as adapter at inlet to fuel distributor.
Replace old fuel filter.
I rebuilt my fuel distributor and it works great.
Rebuilt WUR at same time.
Techron seems to make it run better
Seafoam is an improvement, too
Flow rate check could be worthwhile
